FAQs

What does open-ear mean?

Open-ear earbuds sit outside your ear canal instead of sealing inside it. Push 540 Open uses directional audio to deliver clear sound while allowing you to hear your surroundings. This makes it a great choice for outdoor workouts, commuting, and situations where situational awareness is important.

Does Push 540 Open block outside noise?

No. Push 540 Open is intentionally designed to keep you aware of your surroundings. Unlike in-ear earbuds that create a seal for passive noise isolation, this open-ear design prioritizes airflow, comfort, and environmental awareness.

How is Push 540 Open different from in-ear earbuds?

In-ear earbuds sit inside the ear canal using ear gels to create a sealed fit that blocks outside noise. Push 540 Open rests outside the ear canal and uses an over-ear hook for retention. The result is breathable comfort, no ear pressure, and increased awareness during activity.

Is Push 540 Open comfortable for all-day wear?

Yes. The open-ear design eliminates ear canal pressure, and the lightweight hanger structure distributes weight securely around the ear. This makes Push 540 Open comfortable for long listening sessions, workdays, and extended workouts.

Does Push 540 Open work well with glasses?

Yes. While hanger-style earbuds wrap over the ear, Push 540 Open is designed with a low-profile support structure to remain comfortable for most glasses wearers. The lightweight build minimizes pressure behind the ear.

Is Push 540 Open good for phone calls?

Yes. The open design allows you to hear your own voice naturally while speaking, and the directional microphone placement helps deliver clear call quality during movement.

Who should choose Push 540 Open?

Push 540 Open is ideal for people who:

-Want to stay aware of their surroundings
-Run, cycle, or train outdoors
-Prefer earbuds that do not sit inside the ear canal
-Need a secure fit for high movement activity

If you want immersive, sealed audio that blocks distractions, an in-ear style may be a better fit. If you want secure, breathable awareness with strong sound, Push 540 Open is built for you.

What makes hanger-style earbuds different?

Hanger-style earbuds use an over-ear support structure to improve stability. In open-ear models like Push 540 Open, the hanger keeps the earbud locked in place while the speaker sits just outside the ear canal for awareness and airflow.

How does the detachable neckband work?

The detachable magnetic neckband connects to both earbuds for added security during runs, rides, or workouts. It keeps your buds safely around your neck when not in use, so you don’t have to pocket them or risk dropping one. When you’re done, the neckband stores neatly inside the charging case and doubles as a lanyard.

How do the touch controls work?

Push 540 Open features intuitive touch controls on each earbud for media and calls. Tap to play or pause, skip tracks, answer calls, and activate your mobile assistant—no need to reach for your phone.

Can I disable the touch controls?

Yes. If you prefer zero accidental taps during workouts, you can disable touch controls directly in the Skullcandy App. Customize your setup to match how you move.

Are Push 540 Open earbuds waterproof?

Push 540 Open has an IP44 rating, meaning they’re sweat- and water-resistant. They’re built to handle tough workouts, splashes, and light rain—but they’re not designed for swimming or full water submersion.

Overall rating: 4.05 / 5 from 120 reviews.

Great headphones truly made for

"Great headphones truly made for all situations. I had raycons previously and it’s like they were made of ceramic, any drop of more than a foot and they would explode. The Push 540 has withstood everything so far with no loss in audio clarity or even a scratch! Would recommend to anyone!!"

Normally im not big on

"Normally im not big on earbuds because i find them uncomfortable however these feel nice and i never get the feeling that there about to fall out like i do with other earbuds. And the sound quality for the price is really good. Overall i absolutely recommend it"

They're great. Fits my ears

"They're great. Fits my ears well and I comfortably wear them with my glasses. The music comes through clearly, but I can still hear around me. Buttons respond well, but still getting familiar with the command set up."

Very good for working out,

"Very good for working out, love the strap that comes with it helps with carrying the case as well, Bluetooth might be spotty but still strong with the music audio, microphone quality very poor but personally not what theses are used for anyway, 4/5 stars for sure"

Arturo M. (4/5)

I had the Push Ultras

"I had the Push Ultras and a think the Push 540 is a side step not a improvement Pros: Good Sound Cool app that tells you the battery life of each ear bud and the case The strap is neat so you dont lose the ear buds Cons: They are a tight fit if you have bit ears and they are not adjustable. Very uncomfortable if you want to wear them with glasses"

Michael M. (3/5)

They are a nice set

"They are a nice set of ear pods. I got the wrong color but it happens, ill rock the white. They are not as loud as the noise cancelling ones i had before felt but i guess thats how open ear pods are supposed to be. Probably better for me since ill make myself deaf if it went loud enough."

Scott G. (5/5)

I run in a very

"I run in a very busy area. These feel light on ears. The design of them sit right outside the ear making it perfect for workouts or being able to hear your music clearly but still being able to hear your surroundings. I will pick these over buds all day every day. The cord being removable and doubling up as the carrying cord make this a unique and adaptable set of head phones. Love them!"

Mario R. (5/5)

The audio was great quality.

"The audio was great quality. Connecting it and setting it all up was easy. The ear buds themselves are made of hard plastic which made them super uncomfortable for me. Especially while wearing glasses. I do have small ears though."

Katharina W. (3/5)

I use these for work

"I use these for work and spend a lot of time in online meetings. The audio is great for open earbuds. And the battery lasts the entire workday without needing to be recharged. I'm also able to listen to music in-between meetings and I don't have to pull them when my team comes to chat with me."

J. S. (5/5)

The good- very comfortable, great

"The good- very comfortable, great fit. Great sound. Love that I can hear my surroundings while on a call or listening to music. Also, very easy to wear for long periods of time. The bad- the cable is not long enough. It barely stays in my neck when I have both earbuds off. The buttons are WAY too sensitive to touch. I’ll just take them off and they start playing. I find myself constantly turning them off when I take them off my ears. Also… doesn’t work with Siri. These days that’s a must. Overall- good sound for the money. Fix these small issues and they will be a GREAT deal!"
