For starters, the Skullcandy Heavy Medal's are very lightweight and have a great design. Initially, I had some difficulties getting these to stay in my ears; however, after swapping out the tips they fit like a glove.

    AMAZING SOUND QUALITY, IFFY PRICE

    May 15th, 2013

    by :)

The sound quality was amazing, perhaps the best I have ever heard in any pair, but they are pretty bulky, making them difficult to jog with. They were pretty pricy too. I currently have the 50/50 and they seem to be doing the job for a fraction of the cost.

    Decent, but...

    April 23rd, 2013

    by Ted

These are probably the sturdiest earbuds I have come across. I must say, they are very good in that they do look good and they withstand a lot of punishment. In terms of the sound department though, I unfortunately say this time is a bit lacking. I just recently did a sound check, and my first Skullcandy Ink'd (not the Ink'd 2) had better sound quality AND bass than this pair of earbuds. I was expecting a lot more because of the $80 price tag put on, but was sorely disappointed... Also, in terms of comfort, I would say that these are a tad uncomfortable. Yes, you eventually get used to them, but they never reached the amount of comfort that the Ink'd gave me. The sound isolation is not as good too. As an alternative, I would recommend the Ink'd 2, as I did another sound test with them, or the Smokin' Buds or the 50/50.

Great Sound but the design is flawed

    March 3rd, 2013

    by Paul

I have to give these ear buds two thumbs up for sound, the bass is amazing and the balance between the treble and the bass is awesome. There is a design flaw which makes these ear buds so uncomfortable to wear that I have to wait for summer to wear them. I live in Whistler and I probably get on average about 60-70 days on the mountain. As soon as you put a toque on because the ear buds stick so far out of your ears, the pressure the toque creates on the ear buds and then within your ears make them very uncomfortable and then once you put your goggles on you can't keep them in your ears. I do not think the R&D team put a lot of thought into what happens when someone puts something over the ear buds and the pressure that creates within the ear. Save yourself $30.00 and buy a pair of the 50/50's, they are by far the best value Skullcandy has going and the sound from the 50/50's is absolutely amazing as well as very comfortable to wear.

I got this for my little brother a long time ago. I ended up getting a pair even though Im not a huge fan of ear buds. I enjoy these more than I thought I would I have the Fix but these have a similar build with better material and bass. They are great for the price. Would give a 5 in comfort but Im personally not a ear bud fan.

Good, but hard to get there

These headphones are super clear and have the bass I was looking for after my FMJs broke. The only thing is, I have to run my music through my pre-amp into these headphones to utilize the massive bass these babies have. My iPod just cannot put out the power.

    Bringing the Bling!

    December 9th, 2012

    by Gil

These headphones sound great but most of all they bring the bling. They are great for running and don't fall out, but as soon as I hit 14 mph on my bike you get a lot of windnoise. For cycling I recommend the Fix or the 50/50. The Fix are my favorite headphone of all time, and these have better sound than the Fix, but not if you are listening to an iPhone or Android phone--you can mainly tell a difference with a personal CD Player or a high bit-rate audio download. ' So I would get these headphones not so much for the sound, but most of all they look way more bling. The carrying tin is pretty sweet too.

These are incredible! I have a surround sound system with a subwoofer but these headphones can go audibly lower than my sub. The sound quality is great and these are really loud. The only issue is that the big medal cylinder can be uncomfortable in your ear, but that can be adjusted rather easily. I have iBeats as well which are $20 more, these just blow them away.

    Best earbuds out

    September 6th, 2012

    by RAH905

One of the best earbuds out on the market. The bass is deep enough to bump your head, mids are good enough to write your own lyrics, highs are crisp you'd want to listen to music all day and night. On the down side i think these could have better wires like the one on FMJ's. Other than great product. I highly recommend these earbuds

I compared these to all the other earbuds and headphones and these are the best quality because i looked at the tech specs before they removed them off the site and pretty much every thing is 20-20 freuency rate, but these earbuds are 5-22 frequency rate and these are there best product if you want supreme sound and thats the way to tell if there good or not and these are the best earbuds on the market and ive stuck with these.

    Made Mistake of trying these...

    May 30th, 2012

    by Mafioso

This is nothing against skullcandy because i love their products I have owned the 50/50, FMJ, Smokin Buds, Hesh, SkullCrushers, and now Heavy Medal I only listen to Hip-Hop/Rap and BASS is an absolute must I thought I would try these this time since they are supposed to be pretty good... But I am disapointed and will be returning these tomorrow and buying more 50/50s the bass sounds good... just not loud or deep enough... i feel like i need turn turn the volume up but then the treble overpowers the song and really hurts my ears... These earbuds are very clear and sounds great... just not how i like to listen to music... also they are a little bigger and heavier

Phenomenal

Over the years, I've had different ear buds, from different brands. Some from JVC, some Sony. But these blew every other brand outta the park. The $80 is worth it, believe me. The Comply Memory Foam ear tips and metal travel case are the icing on the cake. For you Bass lovers, really consider getting these.

Great Headphones Have not been able to find much better in ear headphones than these. Bass is great, but the volume straight off of my phone is handled well with these heaphones. Most other headphones are not as loud. With an equalizer, you can turn down the bass a little and have almost a perfect pair of headphones. November 9, 2012
just not quite right I had high expectations with the frequency specs and all but these do not deliver. When they are run through my dac amplifier they sound really good but most people don't do that, or maybe they do...i dunno. Something I would've wanted to know before purchasing. The sound is really crisp and clear but they need more umph! The bass hits LOW on these. Not like the ink'd,titans, or even the fix. They hit at 80 to 500hz, the upper bass to lower mids. Thats why you get that bit o boom in your ear with those. With these heavy medal it hits much lower and without a trained ear can be very hard to hear. They have the klipsch type fit or like the fix in ear(which are phenomenal) which means they are angled. The problem with these is the diameter of the housing barely lets the tips go in my ear and I'm a large man with big ears lol. I guess that's why they have the rubber rings that go around the housing. They almost feel like a hybrid between in ear and regular earbuds. I like the comply foam tips but they wear out fast and are expensive to replace. Without em its hard to get a good seal. Styling is sick tho as usual with the skull. The chrome really shines and the housing is tapered away from your ear giving a good look. These things are absolute tanks. I am VERY rough on my earbuds. These look as new as the day I got them. If you're an audiophile with some descent equipment these are well worth the money. But for the regular user who will just use them with their iphones and pods you'd be much better off with the fix in ear. November 7, 2012

Supreme sound and Excellent fit First off, I've seen a lot of reviews about no noise cancellation; and if that's what you're looking for then you might want to go with something else. Even though the in-ear design helps with that its not their priority. These headphones replaced the Fix'd in-ears that I had and are much better. the angled design is great and even though these are a little on the heavy side they do well at the gym or on the track. The bass is really good for an ear bud design and to be honest it's like having my Mix Masters in a smaller package. A very solid headphone and well rounded in all qualities. October 23, 2012
NO NOISE ISOLATION AT ALL I have been using skullcandies for a long time but these earphones do a horrible job blocking out noise. One of the biggest factors for any set of earphones to have good quality is the way they block out unwanted sound. I dont know why no one else has brought this up, but if you are looking for earphones that have great noise isolation, stay away from these. October 16, 2012
AMAZING. These earbuds beat out everything. I have I 50/50s and I gave those to my friend because of how awesome these buds are! They can and will handle ANYTHING you throw at them. Mine were have way up and I got yelled at by my teacher because they were too loud!(: I will never regret my decision on buying these! Don't waste your money on beats by Dre! These are where it's at! Amazing quality I started out with a Ink'd pair of skullcandy headphones and i loved them. So i decided to upgrade to the heavy metal pair. I absolutely love them!!! I did a side-by-side comparison between Beats in-ear headphones and the heavy metal and my personal opinion is the skullcandy pair had cleaner and crisper sound quality and very good bass. beats headphones=$200 and skullcandy heavy metal headphones=$80. Huge difference in price but better sound quality than the Beats headphones. September 30, 2012
