well id say the best bass headphones ever

    May 28th, 2013

by Person who is interested in buying

to me best head phones ever now i listen to rock and dubstep literally the only two but if checked out a few hip hop and rap songs and i think it was made more for rap than rock but skullcandy mustve considered rock i have had these for over a year now the reason is why because i take care of them ( taken care of them means not pulling on the cord only done it 3 times) really really sturdy comfortably if you use the memory foam ones that come in the box your set but i recommend buying a bigger set of gels these definitely can compare to beats the reason why this only got for bars for the value is because these should be more expensive these definitly surpass beats (if using memory foam eartips that come with box) now this all depends on the person if u want bass buy em but if you want quality sound ( those little sounds you dont hear with regular headphones ) then i recommend aviators (they lack in bass but very good sound quality) heavymedals do have the quality but its overpowerd (not muffled) by the bass last thing is the puching bass omg wow feels like someone is knocking on the side of your ear!

    AMAZING SOUND QUALITY, IFFY PRICE

    May 15th, 2013

The sound quality was amazing, perhaps the best I have ever heard in any pair, but they are pretty bulky, making them difficult to jog with. They were pretty pricy too. I currently have the 50/50 and they seem to be doing the job for a fraction of the cost.

    Decent, but...

    April 23rd, 2013

    by Ted

These are probably the sturdiest earbuds I have come across. I must say, they are very good in that they do look good and they withstand a lot of punishment. In terms of the sound department though, I unfortunately say this time is a bit lacking. I just recently did a sound check, and my first Skullcandy Ink'd (not the Ink'd 2) had better sound quality AND bass than this pair of earbuds. I was expecting a lot more because of the $80 price tag put on, but was sorely disappointed... Also, in terms of comfort, I would say that these are a tad uncomfortable. Yes, you eventually get used to them, but they never reached the amount of comfort that the Ink'd gave me. The sound isolation is not as good too. As an alternative, I would recommend the Ink'd 2, as I did another sound test with them, or the Smokin' Buds or the 50/50.

I love skullcandy products and will never use any other brands. I've owned multiple inkd headphones, FMJs, and now these. When I first received them in the mail, I was somewhat surprised by just how big they are. At first I had no complaints. But now comparing them to my other headphones, I've realized that they aren't at all comfortable, the sound quality isn't the greatest, and you can't turn them up too loud because other people can hear your music very easily when turned up to even just 25%. I would much rather use my FMJs because they have much greater bass and sound quality.

Great Sound but the design is flawed

    March 3rd, 2013

    by Paul

I have to give these ear buds two thumbs up for sound, the bass is amazing and the balance between the treble and the bass is awesome. There is a design flaw which makes these ear buds so uncomfortable to wear that I have to wait for summer to wear them. I live in Whistler and I probably get on average about 60-70 days on the mountain. As soon as you put a toque on because the ear buds stick so far out of your ears, the pressure the toque creates on the ear buds and then within your ears make them very uncomfortable and then once you put your goggles on you can't keep them in your ears. I do not think the R&D team put a lot of thought into what happens when someone puts something over the ear buds and the pressure that creates within the ear. Save yourself $30.00 and buy a pair of the 50/50's, they are by far the best value Skullcandy has going and the sound from the 50/50's is absolutely amazing as well as very comfortable to wear.

    More Like Ear Candy

    February 26th, 2013

    by Ed R. (Pittsburgh, Pa)

I don't normally write reviews, but I just had to give me 2 cents worth on these. I've been a DJ for years now and am very picky when it comes to quality sound reproduction. I've looked for years for a pair of buds that don't make your ears bleed because all they're capable of reproducing is ear splitting highs. These babys handle the highs very well and balance it out with a very good amount of thumping bass. I listened to them for about 4 and a half hours the first time and almost hated to take them out of my ears they made my Androids Muve Music Player sound so good. They were even better in my Ipod Touch G4 where I can adjust the audio through the EQ. The volume and track selection buttons are also a nice addition to my Ipod, I only wish they worked with my Android too. Comfort and fit are excelent with the provided foam tips which stay in very well. I also own a pair of smokin' buds which I was also happy with as far as sound reproduction but these are my new favorites.

    December 20th, 2012

Originally I bought these to replace my FMJ I lost on a work trip. First of all I thought the sound was great and as long as you put the correct bud in the correct ear they really stay in well but I am very petite (under 5 ft) so my ears are pretty small too and these are just way too big. Within a half hour of wearing them my ears were hurting pretty bad and I can wear my ear buds up to 7 hours a day for my job. The next day my ears still hurt something awful so bad for me but lucky for my boyfriend. They fit him perfectly and his FMJ had recently started to give up the ghost. Hes very happy with them. So I give these a great rating on his behalf but if you have little ears these are not the buds for you. I ended up going with the Klipsch S4A and they are a perfect fit. Sorry Skull Candy, make sport fit itty bitty buds with great quality, a mic and volume control and we can talk.

    Bringing the Bling!

    December 9th, 2012

    by Gil

These headphones sound great but most of all they bring the bling. They are great for running and don't fall out, but as soon as I hit 14 mph on my bike you get a lot of windnoise. For cycling I recommend the Fix or the 50/50. The Fix are my favorite headphone of all time, and these have better sound than the Fix, but not if you are listening to an iPhone or Android phone--you can mainly tell a difference with a personal CD Player or a high bit-rate audio download. ' So I would get these headphones not so much for the sound, but most of all they look way more bling. The carrying tin is pretty sweet too.

    Heavy Medal Review

    December 6th, 2012

    by Amnesjr

Before I bought these headphones, I've owned Ink'd, Riots, Icon and TItans (over 10 pairs combined) in that order. Every time I upgraded, I fell in love with the difference in quality but the jump between Titans and Heavy Medals were the biggest. Compared to the Heavy Medals, they all have pitiful bass and sound quality. The Heavy Medals took my level of listening to music to a different level. I felt like the songs were being performed live and this kept making me listen to more and more. I had my Heavy Medals for 7 and a half months until one side stopped working. I didn't do anything about it for a week and just started to listen to my Titans again. After, that week, I preferred that one side over the Titans. These are the best earphones I've had and I will be looking forward to replacing them again and again.

    just not quite right

    November 8th, 2012

    by Stupid Mop

I had high expectations with the frequency specs and all but these do not deliver. When they are run through my dac amplifier they sound really good but most people don't do that, or maybe they do...i dunno. Something I would've wanted to know before purchasing. The sound is really crisp and clear but they need more umph! The bass hits LOW on these. Not like the ink'd,titans, or even the fix. They hit at 80 to 500hz, the upper bass to lower mids. Thats why you get that bit o boom in your ear with those. With these heavy medal it hits much lower and without a trained ear can be very hard to hear. They have the klipsch type fit or like the fix in ear(which are phenomenal) which means they are angled. The problem with these is the diameter of the housing barely lets the tips go in my ear and I'm a large man with big ears lol. I guess that's why they have the rubber rings that go around the housing. They almost feel like a hybrid between in ear and regular earbuds. I like the comply foam tips but they wear out fast and are expensive to replace. Without em its hard to get a good seal. Styling is sick tho as usual with the skull. The chrome really shines and the housing is tapered away from your ear giving a good look. These things are absolute tanks. I am VERY rough on my earbuds. These look as new as the day I got them. If you're an audiophile with some descent equipment these are well worth the money. But for the regular user who will just use them with their iphones and pods you'd be much better off with the fix in ear.

These are incredible! I have a surround sound system with a subwoofer but these headphones can go audibly lower than my sub. The sound quality is great and these are really loud. The only issue is that the big medal cylinder can be uncomfortable in your ear, but that can be adjusted rather easily. I have iBeats as well which are $20 more, these just blow them away.

I have been using skullcandies for a long time but these earphones do a horrible job blocking out noise. One of the biggest factors for any set of earphones to have good quality is the way they block out unwanted sound. I dont know why no one else has brought this up, but if you are looking for earphones that have great noise isolation, stay away from these.

I started out with a Ink'd pair of skullcandy headphones and i loved them. So i decided to upgrade to the heavy metal pair. I absolutely love them!!! I did a side-by-side comparison between Beats in-ear headphones and the heavy metal and my personal opinion is the skullcandy pair had cleaner and crisper sound quality and very good bass. beats headphones=$200 and skullcandy heavy metal headphones=$80. Huge difference in price but better sound quality than the Beats headphones.

FMJ they worked perfectly and was very cat resistant with the metal cotting over the wires. but i wanted better so i got my heavy medals and was worried at first but went with is and fell in love. skullcandy did it right. and they sound better then my friends 200$ earbuds. also i love when these tickle the instide of your ears at high volume and max bass. thanks skullcandy XP

I have had these earbuds for a while now and I definitely am very satisfied. I just recently realized one of the best things about them, They don't sound like normal earbuds. Review after about five months of use

    July 26th, 2012

    by Eathan

I think a review is only legitimate when you've used the product for at least a month or two. I am happy to say after about five months of use(bought these back in Jan. 2012) they still work superbly well. They're very comfortable, sound amazing and have survived these months. Definitely worth the money. All the connections are still perfect. Sound quality is somewhat like if the Titans and the FMJ's had a baby. Bass is really good but not overpowering. Very clean crisp sound. A few very minor gripes, keep in mind these are mostly aesthetic. First of all, I don't like this type of cord. I know some Skullcandy headphones, such as the old FMJ's, use braided metal cord, which I preferred. This cord works just fine, but it tends to tangle easy and if the cord is white, it gets very dirty. Also, the small chrome skulls on the headphones have become discolored. I very rarely go outside with these, and it's not humid where I live, so I'm not sure what the deal is there. Overall, excellent.

    Superb

    July 5th, 2012

    by Vartazian

These things are superb! Let me start off by saying that i have had many skull candies in the past. first the inkd, then the titan, and 2 pair of FMJ's. This blows all of those out of the water. The problem with the FMJ was that the bass overpowered the highs and mids, and so the sound quality was not that great. In my opinion the Titans were a much better headphone build than the FMJs. The Heavy Medals are even better than them both. The amount of bass in these things is ridiculous. The 13.5mm drivers REALLY make a difference. With the incredible amount of bass, you would think that it would overpower the highs and mids - this is NOT the case. Skullcandy obviously did their research and found a way to keep crisp highs and mids while maintaining a much higher level of bass than the FMJ's. Awesome headphones. Also, for those worrying about whether or not these will stay in your ear - this design fits and stays in your ear quite well - much better than the titans or fmj's as well. Finally, comfort - As for long time wearing, i wear these things while i work everyday moving around and these never even hurt my ear. If you were like i was - and was wondering why the fmj's are no longer on the online store, then you will NOT be dissappointed with these. They are a far better - more durable - higher quality - more comfortable headphone than the fmj's or titans ever were. The price still may be a bit steep - $80 for a pair of headphones is very high - but i assure you, you will not be disappointed. The only thing bad i can find is that surprisingly, the gel outside of the headphone that says "skullcandy" comes off sometimes. Other than that, i cannot do anything but recommend these to anyone who loves bass in their music. The Heavy Medals will deliver.

But I am disapointed and will be returning these tomorrow and buying more 50/50s the bass sounds good... just not loud or deep enough... i feel like i need turn turn the volume up but then the treble overpowers the song and really hurts my ears... These earbuds are very clear and sounds great... just not how i like to listen to music... also they are a little bigger and heavier

Have gone thru several pair of earbuds but wanted better sound quality. Thought these were too expensive, but a representative recommended them. Wow, the sound was great. The quality of the bass was by far the greatest and they stayed in my ear even when walking or working. Great pair of earbuds.

I was a lil skeptical at the shape of the earbuds but once I tried them on they really looked like any others. The sound quality is amazing and I always love the noise cancelling effect, especially on long car rides (I do not want to hear books on CDs). Great headphones!!!

BOTTOM LINE YES, I recommend this product

Phenomenal

Over the years, I've had different ear buds, from different brands. Some from JVC, some Sony. But these blew every other brand outta the park. The $80 is worth it, believe me. The Comply Memory Foam ear tips and metal travel case are the icing on the cake. For you Bass lovers, really consider getting these.

For starters, the Skullcandy Heavy Medal's are very lightweight and have a great design. Initially, I had some difficulties getting these to stay in my ears; however, after swapping out the tips they fit like a glove.

i had the same problem with the smokin' buds, but if you use a splitter or another extension device, it would cancel the recognition due to the decreased amount of pins.. yada yada... so an extension will usually cancel out the mic- and make it longer too!

I read here that these buds stay in your ear, I personally tried the FIX, and they fit fantastic, true to the name! However they sound quality doesn't even tough the TITANS, I'm wondering if these buds can hold up sprinting and jogging, will I need to adjust these now and then? I have to adjust my TITANS every 1/2 mile or so, no big deal, however it would be nice to not have to do it all... and keep the amazing sound quality.

Once you put these headphones in your ears, they stay in place, PERIOD. You can run, jump, climb, or slide head first into a wall of bricks and they will stay in your head. They get caught up on things and come out of the music source before they come out of your ears. Its incredible!

Answer:
Ive had these for a year and they are AMAZING. They still look and sound as good (if not better) then when they came out of the box. They have REALLY good bass, and not the weird boomy kind you get with some headphones. The mids are also very crisp and you can even hear like when they pluck the guitar string or breathe in. The highs are Also Extremely precise. They do get a little sharp but only if it's like a female high note or something. I love everything about these. If you look it up these actually have like 5-25k frequency response. most only have 20-20k. It makes all the diforence. The only con i can think of is the size. they come with 3 sizes of eartips so that's not a problem but they kinda go a little deep in your ear (for that great noise cancellation) but they have amazing sound the actual earbud itself is pretty big (a little smaller than a nickle) so ive noticed a few of my friends can't fix it in their ear right. (they have VERY small ears). These are BY FAR the best earbuds ive tried and i HIGHLY suggest you get these.
Hope this helps!

Answer:
As far as I can tell the Heavy Metal have the best highs and Mids I've heard yet in a pair of Skullcandy Earbuds. As for if they fall out of your ear they don't on me. However it really depends on how your ears are set up. Personally I use the comply foam tips. I find that these seal off your ear well and make them stay securely in your ear. I have a friend that runs with them so yes i think they should stay in your ear fine. Its just a matter if you find the right tips for your ears. The gels also work great, you might just have to play around with sizes some. Hope this Helped!!!!

Bass is incredible, especially if you Love Dubstep as I do. The sound doesn't change when switched to an Android. You just can't use the Mic. Other than that, Perfect balance between Bass and Treble. Best IEMs in the market.

Answer:
i had the same problem with the smokin' buds, but if you use a splitter or another extension device, it would cancel the recognition due to the decreased amount of pins.. yada yada... so an extension will usually cancel out the mic- and make it longer too!

They seem to be very well built. They lasted about 7 months before one of the speakers quit but I got a free replacement in about a week.
The rubber pieces around the wires at the speakers popped out and wouldn't stay in but it didn't affect anything that I could tell.

Depends how well you take care of them.
I've had a old pair of Inked last about two years.
These so far have been really good. I've had them for about 5 months. Again, it depends how good you treat them... put them in the case when you don't use them.

For comfort. These are sort of like apple buds that come with your iPod, but they also as you can see, go into your ear canal with the extrusion. I believe that the way these are designed will also keep them in your ear with a good seal better.

Yesss! I own these and have had them for a year and they still look like new. even if i occasionally put them in my pocket. These have INCREDIBLE bass and they sound like your in the recording studio. The only thing is they are REALLY big in your ear. they come with 3 sizes of eartips but the actually earbud itself is about the size of a nickle. I would recommend these over ANY other earbud. Their just awesome! Hope this helps!
