Great for comfort, poor for sound.

Fit snuggly and feel very comfortable while running. However, sound quality is very poor and the earphones themselves make a squeaky noise when I'm running.

Skullcandy Chops disappointing sound quality compared to Smokin Buds

    February 15th, 2014

    by Wendy

First off, I own a pair of Smokin Buds, and love them. They've lasted for over 3 years, and the sound quality, and craftsmanship is awesome for a low cost earbud, but they fall out of my ears so I started shopping for ear-hooks. When I took the Chops out of the packaging they did look really nicely made, and the twisting ear piece is a good design. I have to say though, I am really disappointed with the sound quality compared with the Smokin Buds. There is practically no bass, and the mid-range is washed out to non-existent. It's all highs, and tinny sounding to me. Not to mention the earpiece is hard and doesn't fit comfortably in my ear. I'm not a sound pro, but I am an avid music listener in all music genres. If you are looking for that booming bass with a crisp mid and high range these are not for you. If you are just looking for something that stays in your ear while exercising, and don't really care about sound then these may work. But for my music lovin' needs, sorry Skullcandy, I'm not impressed.

Out of the box, wore them twice to run. First time, lost volume control, second time lost sound in one ear bud. Very disappointed. This is my second Skullcandy product and will be my last.

    Great for a while

These headphones sounded great and worked very well, until I started using them to workout. shortly after I started working out with them, the buttons on the microphone (volume control and pause/skip) stopped working properly. People also started to complain that they could not hear me when I was talking on the phone using these headphones and microphone. While I loved the comfort and sound quality from them they didn't last long so I couldn't recommend them unless that changed. the version without the mic would be perfect for the gym. I would recommend that!

    Awesome; but NOT REALLY RED

I think this is my...sixth? pair of skullcandies...I don't know. Anyway, I bought these to replace my Asyms, and they definitely didn't disappoint, sound/quality-wise. If I were to compare them to other skdy buds I've used, I'd say the sound is similar to the 50-50s. I haven't used them running yet, but I have done a shake-the-head test, if you will, and they passed. =P They're also plenty comfortable. They're not quite as tug-proof as the Asyms, as the cord goes directly to the bud instead of behind the ear, but they still stay in beautifully even while moving around. A quick word of warning though; I'm no fashion pro, and don't intend to be, so I don't really care too much, but if you actually want a pair of RED headphones, look elsewhere. Turns out these really are more of a neon/pastel orange. Which, of course, is still awesome, but not what I was expecting.

BOTTOM LINE YES, I recommend this product

    Best Workout Headphones

    December 8th, 2012

    by Adam

These headphones are perfect for running or lifting weights. I've tried many different pairs of headphones including Bose in-ear and skull candy in-ear, but the chops are far superior simply because they don't ever fall out. The sound quality is still amazing! The sound quality is on par with my in-ear Beats. I strongly recommend buying these headphones if you are looking for headphones to work out/ run with.

BOTTOM LINE YES, I recommend this product
