    Better then my DreBreats

    May 3rd, 2013

    by Kendrick

Ive had my for a number of years and its hard to beat.I think their better then my Drebeats too! Whille the beats do have more bass(and thats about it) the Fmj just delives a much more well rounded and crisper sounding headphone. the bass is deep and pumping while the highs and mids are nice and crisp. The other thing that beatsthe beats is the responsiveness of the inline mic. I find that I can quickly click the inline mic to stop music or hang up on a call and its done. with the beats you have to DELIBERTLY press the button they havent quite figured out the inline mic unit just yet. Other then that good durabulity looks great and you can talk on the phone! nuff said buy them before they run out! and if they do wear out just send em in!

    Great Sound, Terrible Durability

    November 26th, 2012

    by Brian

These earphones, and most other Skullcandy earphones sound awesome... I have no complaints with sound quality. However, if you go to the gym and work up a sweat the products will not stand up to it. I have traded in five pairs now. The warranty is great and they will stand by their products everytime. But, now it's been too many times. I am switching to another brand more suitable for athletes.

I originally got these because I needed some heavy-duty earphones, but these things blew me away. The sound is crisp and rich, making it sound as if music isn't sounding like its coming from your ears, but as if the music is around you (cruddy noise box in your ear compared to FMJ's surround sounding sound). I love the shoe blue color and the durability, and recommend nothing else.

These are by far the best ear buds i have ever owned, the sound quality is incredible i never knew ear buds could sound like the FMJs do. If you have the cash i would recommend getting these don't waist your money on didy beats or whatever beats ear buds are called these sound better and are way cheaper, plus there is the whole lifetime warranty thing, I don't think Beats has that

    April 27th, 2012

    by Sam

This is a wonderful set of earbuds, they have really great sound quality, and the foam tips block out sound well. The foam is difficult to get used to though, at first they even through off my equilibrium a little, but it's worth it for the sound dampening. The nylon chord is fantastic, it never tangles, and you can tell it's a very solid design. The mic and controller work well, but I do miss the volume control from the 09 model. I got these on a trade in, otherwise I wouldn't have spent $70 on them, awesome or not. However, if you have the cash and want the quality, go for it.

I Have the Titans, Heavy Medals, 50/50's and the FMJ's. I would say that these would be my favorite out of the bunch hands down only if they had a volume control on them. I use all my headphones at the gym & find myself using the 50/50's more simply because of the volume control on the mic.

Great earbuds, wish they'd stop breaking!

    April 11th, 2012

    by Marek

I have owned two pairs of the FMJ earbuds. I never knew earbuds could sound so good. My only gripe is how quickly they break. My original pair lasted less than a year. The second pair just over a year. If it wasn't for the Skullcandy warranty, the rating would be much lower. I got store credit to buy a new pair and ended up buying the same earbuds in a different color. My second pair just broke and when i get the credit I will probably be trying out the Heavy Medals. That's the nice thing about the warranty, you can use the credit however you want. I used to spend most of my time playing poker, now I spend a lot of time traveling for work. Either way, there were many 5-10 hour days with non-stop use. My ears got a little sore after a long day, but i don't think you can avoid that if you keep them in for 8 hours straight. I loved them and enjoyed the many hours of use. One more item to note: the chord tangles a lot when bunched up in a pocket. I'm not sure if there's an alternative out there on the market. It's a minor annoyance, mostly when traveling.

    Great sounding, long lasting earbuds

    March 30th, 2012

    by Jake B

I had these for over a year and they worked just fine. They were used a LOT, so lasting over a year is really good for a set of earbuds. After they started to wear out (the sound quality got worse and the left side eventually gave out) I just sent them in and I'm about to order my replacement set - and all I had to do was pay to ship the headphones out. Why wouldn't you buy these earbuds?

You can't beat the sound of these earbuds for the price. The sound is clear and spacious--definitely comparable to much more expensive phones that I've used. The only downside is that I've never had a pair of Skullcandy headphones last for more than a year--and I just use them for office work and walking back and forth to the train station. It would be nice if their phones were more durable.

The quality is bangin', they're REALLY comfy and easy on the ears, and the bass is FAR OUT! They lasted through paintball, work, skateboarding and even a blizzard!!! Good looking 'buds, but I'm a little disappointed with the sound quality. If you're looking for bass and only bass (ie. dnb, dubstep, hip hop), this is a great choice. But the balance isn't great with these buds; often the bass overpowers any of the subtleties and quieter instruments and accents in the music. Mids are especially muddy, but the top range still seems able to cut through the bass. I've only had them for a few days so I'll keep putting them through their paces and maybe the drivers will start to loosen up, so if that happens I'll update this review. There's no inline volume control but the mic with the click feature is nice because it even works on my older gen iPod. I got these as a replacement for my broken '09 FMJ's, and since I sent in the old ones I can't compare the quality. The rubber cable is much better on the '11's though, since its now actually flexible. They've removed a lot of the aluminum components and replaced them with polymers, and although they feel a little more fragile, it's nice for weight. I'm going to be extremely careful with these ones. I think overall you can get much better sound quality at this price level, but in terms of looks, these will take the cake.

The voices are still perfectly clear and the bass is still amazing. If you take care of them and use the case, even if you listen to them none stop they will last. (i always have my music going). The first time I heard them were my daughter's and when she saw my face when I first heard them, she said she HAD to get them for me, my expression said everything! These are awesome headphones, the only problem I have with them is I cannot handle wearing them too long, my ears start to burn real bad! i don't really understand why alot of people are whining about these headphones. i found them to be amazing. all you have to do to make them last is make sure not to bend the audio jack, as that leads to a lot of problems. also, DO NOT wrap the headphones and cable around your ipod, its bad for them. these have taken every beating i could deliver. heck, i even ran them over with my bike at the skatepark one day and they were fine :) i recommend getting the foam tips skullcandy sells and discomfort won't be a problem

These are the best earbuds i have ever owned. I have tried sonys, shures, beats by dre (tours), other skullcandy buds, and these are still the best. They have a great balance of sound and terrific bass for an earbud. They are the most durable headphones i have ever owned too. I had my pair for almost 2 years before they broke both times (which is a long time since i trash my headphones by using them every single day) and each time my warranty covered them completely. I know my brother had beats by dre and he had to get them replaced 8 times because they broke so often, but these are much better. Plus they have better sound quality. so if you are looking for a great earbud to rock, look no further.

Why wont is work with Samsung Galaxy S?

Customer avatar
by
robbie
Hi i'm trying to use these headphone with my Samsung Galaxy S1, as my previous ones wore out. When i have them plugged in i can hear a very distorted version of the music, with the vocals being especially quiet...
I then tried the call button, and magically the sound came through loud and clear. Do you have any suggestions to fix this problem so i can listen to music normally, and make phone calls as well?

Answer:
The quality is even better, and they have a longer cord, but compared to the 50/50 "ballistic bass" it is a little difference, but the good thing about the FMJ is also the foam buds. TiTans are cheaper, headphones, without a mic, and you dont have to worry about the mic and Pause and play working on your android. (because there is none) but if money is an issue, then just go with the titans. but if you want great, long lasting, (life time warrenty) good looking headphones (and have money) buy the FMJ or 50/50

If you have an ipod the FMJS will work because you can clarify the specific thing you want to make up for the FMJS slight muddy sound. 50/50' s are mid level, and decent. Anything else, other then in-ears are kind of out of the question earbuds wise; excepting the titans.

Answer:
If you have an ipod the FMJS will work because you can clarify the specific thing you want to make up for the FMJS slight muddy sound. 50/50' s are mid level, and decent. Anything else, other then in-ears are kind of out of the question earbuds wise; excepting the titans.

Answer:
I prefer the metal bodied headphones. I would choose the FMJ if you need the mic and remote. If you do not need the mic, the Titan's in my opinion are the best sounding earphone Skullcandy makes. Best bass, mids and highs and most accurate.
