A great, inexpensive pair of buds

    May 4th, 2013

    by Charlie

These were the first earbuds and first of anything i've bought from Skullcandy. I had to RMA the first pair because the cord began to split and the left ear died on me, but through skullcandy's very nice warranty policy, I managed to get a second pair and I've had no problems whatsoever. My first pair lasted approx. 3 months, and the second pair I still currently use, and I've had these for well over half a year now, if not longer. I use these things all of the time, and I love them. The sound isn't anything amazing, and there is practically no bass, but for their price, the sound you get out of them is quite good. They are a bit durable for the most part, after me shoving them into my bookbag and occasionally ripping them out of my ears and phone by accident, they're still almost mint condition. Overall, great pair of buds for their price. I've never gotten the mic on mine to work though, but I have a headset for that.

The only thing I liked about this product was the sound quality, but even the sound quality wasn't the best. There is little bass, and they just do not sound well. They were very uncomfortable for long term use, and they are very easily broken. Mine were broken after a month. All and all not worth the price. Spring for one of there more expensive pairs.

I'm not a music phile, nor am I discerning enough to be able to tell the difference between great sound, excellent sound, and mind blowing sound. But, for the average consumer who uses headphones to watch Netflix on their phone or to listen to some music while they workout, these headphones are a perfect fit. I'm on my 3rd pair of smokin' buds. The first two, each after about 8 months of age, one ear bud had suddenly stopped working. But that's ok, and here's why: Skullcandy stands behind their products 100%. I sent them back to the company, they gave me 100% replacement value in "store credit", I picked out a new pair on their website, and 3 days later I had them in my hands. Not too many companies out there today that are this reputable. I'm actually on the site today because I just finished ordering a pair of smokin' buds for my wife and one for my mother to give as Mother's Day presents.

Very comfortable and stylish. In my opinion these are the best in ear headphones to buy if you are on a budget. Sound quality is amazing for the price, and I love the fact that Skullcandy backs all of their headphones with lifetime warranties.

I had these earphones once before and I loved them, I was so upset when they got stepped on and I had to send them back. I finally got another pair I liked and I love them. The bass sounds amazing. The sound is much richer than the Ink'd pair I have so I don't have to turn the volume up so loud.

I got these headphones as a replacement for my ink'd headphones, initially I loved them. They sound great, they are comfortable but then I took them on the mountain. These headphones (with the mic) HATE cold weather and will make you want to rip them out of your ear and throw them off the lift. Something with the cold makes it continuously bounce around to different songs, pause and play randomly, tell you the name of the song, etc. And all of that happens within a few seconds of each other. I thought it was a short at first until I took them to work and they worked and performed just fine. So yes, I would recommend these for general use, warm summertime activities even, but don't get the ones with the mic if you are wanting to use them in cold weather.

not my first pair of SK, i also have Hesh 2.0, and i had some skull crushers. but onward with the review. the bass is amazing, good highs, decent lows and vocals. over all for the price, there a steal. there almost comparable to the Hesh 2. the the only complaint is comfort. i normally like the gel ear buds, but these start to hurt pretty fast. even with the smaller size they come with it still felt uncomfortable. aside that small factor, great value.

I got these a few months ago, and they are absolutely amazing! The buds are a great value. My friend got a pair of 50/50's and I got a pair of smokin' buds. My smokin buds have outlasted his ear buds by a long shot. The buds are very comfortable. I can go all day and my ears will be fine. The sound quality is astonishingly good. My smokin' buds still sound the same as when i had first taken them out of the box. I am very satisfied.

I have had great experiences with other Skullcandy earbuds, but these ones left me wondering what went wrong. They're comfortable enough--those three sets of covers make it easy to find the perfect fit--but they have terrible sound. I have my phone volume turned up to the max, and I can still barely hear my music. Given my past positive experiences, I am very disappointed. I guess it's worth it t pay more for a better version.

    These Headphones Are Great!

    September 10th, 2012

    by Jeremy

I bought these headphones a while ago because I had just gotten a new phone. The sound is amazing. I can hear everything that goes on in the music. It blocks out all the noise from the outside so I could just focus on the music. It, of course, is a great looking headphone to. It's very comfortable. There is just one reason I won't give it 5 out of 5: it kept falling out of my ears. I found myself having to put the right ear bud in the left ear and vice versa. The mic1 also worked well on calls to. GET THESE HEADPHONES THOUGH!

Very streamlined simple design that allows some suction when the bud is placed into the ear. The suction allows for better bass delivery. No volume control, but that could also be a plus for its simplicity. The wire is flat rather than round. I prefer round as cord kinks are less likely. Comes with a carrying case that is too small.

Great quality and price point. It has a mic for my phone calls, and the audio quality is superb for $30. The case is a little small, it took me a while to figure out how to squeeze the actual headphones in it, but I got there, and it's an invaluable accessory. Headphones will no longer be tangled in your pocket! Indestructible!!!

I like using wired headsets instead of bluetooth for my cell phone, because I don't like the idea of my brain getting irradiated, and I also use my cell phone as my music player when I exercise. All of the other headphones I would buy would fall apart in my purse, or I'd yank them and....well..you know. These headphones are not only indestructible, but give me GREAT sound!

Answer:
On the Smokin' Buds, the smallest earphone cover is practically the size of the actual bud, which is pretty small. You say they keep falling out; I know what you mean, it happened to me too. However, that has less to do with the size of the earbud cover and more to do with the weight. These earbuds are some of the heaviest I have ever purchased in my entire life. So it's probably a good idea not to get this specific model again. There are many other models that are lighter and have just as good sound quality (if not better.) Hoped this helped and sorry about your bad experience with these buds.

Answer:
Most smartphones with a 3.5mm jack should have limited to full functionality with Mic1. So if it has a little button in the cord, it should be able to work. Make sure your phone is up-to-date with the latest software. It will probably work a lot better.

do you sell smaller earbud covers?

Answers

Most smartphones with a 3.5mm jack should have limited to full functionality with Mic1. So if it has a little button in the cord, it should be able to work. Make sure your phone is up-to-date with the latest software. It will probably work a lot better.

Answer:
no and that would be great. I know the cost of this function in headphones is still high. If you guys could lower the cost, I'm sure you would see a spike in sales. Gotta run promo's so everyone would know what's good. lol

Answer:
To pause and play, the button is pressed once. To skip a track, you press it twice quickly, and hold it on the second press to fast forward. To go back a track, press it three times quickly, and hold it on the third click to rewind.

Answer:
Just an FYI, a Mic1 means...
-1 click: Play/Pause song or End/Send Call
-2 clicks: Skip Track Forward
-3 clicks: Replay current song or go back to previous song

A Mic3 means you have all the features of Mic1, PLUS Volume Control.

Answer:
The *(Mic'd) tag on the end of the title shows that the earbuds have a microphone. In this case, they have a Mic1 with track control.
