    AMAZING SOUND QUALITY, IFFY PRICE

    May 15th, 2013

    by :)

The sound quality was amazing, perhaps the best I have ever heard in any pair, but they are pretty bulky, making them difficult to jog with. They were pretty pricy too. I currently have the 50/50 and they seem to be doing the job for a fraction of the cost.

    Decent, but...

    April 23rd, 2013

    by Ted

These are probably the sturdiest earbuds I have come across. I must say, they are very good in that they do look good and they withstand a lot of punishment. In terms of the sound department though, I unfortunately say this time is a bit lacking. I just recently did a sound check, and my first Skullcandy Ink'd (not the Ink'd 2) had better sound quality AND bass than this pair of earbuds. I was expecting a lot more because of the $80 price tag put on, but was sorely disappointed... Also, in terms of comfort, I would say that these are a tad uncomfortable. Yes, you eventually get used to them, but they never reached the amount of comfort that the Ink'd gave me. The sound isolation is not as good too. As an alternative, I would recommend the Ink'd 2, as I did another sound test with them, or the Smokin' Buds or the 50/50.

Great Sound but the design is flawed

    March 3rd, 2013

    by Paul

I have to give these ear buds two thumbs up for sound, the bass is amazing and the balance between the treble and the bass is awesome. There is a design flaw which makes these ear buds so uncomfortable to wear that I have to wait for summer to wear them. I live in Whistler and I probably get on average about 60-70 days on the mountain. As soon as you put a toque on because the ear buds stick so far out of your ears, the pressure the toque creates on the ear buds and then within your ears make them very uncomfortable and then once you put your goggles on you can't keep them in your ears. I do not think the R&D team put a lot of thought into what happens when someone puts something over the ear buds and the pressure that creates within the ear. Save yourself $30.00 and buy a pair of the 50/50's, they are by far the best value Skullcandy has going and the sound from the 50/50's is absolutely amazing as well as very comfortable to wear.

I got this for my little brother a long time ago. I ended up getting a pair even though Im not a huge fan of ear buds. I enjoy these more than I thought I would I have the Fix but these have a similar build with better material and bass. They are great for the price. Would give a 5 in comfort but Im personally not a ear bud fan.

    Bringing the Bling!

    December 9th, 2012

    by Gil

These headphones sound great but most of all they bring the bling. They are great for running and don't fall out, but as soon as I hit 14 mph on my bike you get a lot of windnoise. For cycling I recommend the Fix or the 50/50. The Fix are my favorite headphone of all time, and these have better sound than the Fix, but not if you are listening to an iPhone or Android phone--you can mainly tell a difference with a personal CD Player or a high bit-rate audio download. ' So I would get these headphones not so much for the sound, but most of all they look way more bling. The carrying tin is pretty sweet too.

    Overhyped and Overpriced

    November 23rd, 2012

    by Andrew

I've always liked Skullcandy and I decided to upgrade to the heavy model since I've been a 50/50 user for a while. I was extremely disappointed in the sound quality. I can't believe that I paid more for headphones that sound the same as the 50/50 if not less. With the 50/50 you're able to block most outside sound. With the heavy medal, most outside sound gets in so you have to really turn up the volume to hear the music. Also, the bass is not there. Very weak and not powerful. You would think paying a higher ticket price would equal better sound but to the honest, I think the 50/50 sound better. In addition the ear design is extremely uncomfortable. They almost didn't fit my ears. I had to use the foamy earbuds to get them to fit. Seriously, the design needs to be changed.

These are incredible! I have a surround sound system with a subwoofer but these headphones can go audibly lower than my sub. The sound quality is great and these are really loud. The only issue is that the big medal cylinder can be uncomfortable in your ear, but that can be adjusted rather easily. I have iBeats as well which are $20 more, these just blow them away.

First off, I've seen a lot of reviews about no noise cancellation; and if that's what you're looking for then you might want to go with something else. Even though the in-ear design helps with that its not their priority. These headphones replaced the Fix'd in-ears that I had and are much better. the angled design is great and even though these are a little on the heavy side they do well at the gym or on the track. The bass is really good for an ear bud design and to be honest it's like having my Mix Masters in a smaller package. A very solid headphone and well rounded in all qualities.

Mine were have way up and I got yelled at by my teacher because they were too loud!(: I will never regret my decision on buying these! Don't waste your money on beats by Dre! I have to say, I've had these headphones for over a year and they have handled everything I've thrown at them. Exceptional sound quality aside (20-25,000hz) these things stay in your ears no matter what! I run competitively, and on long distance runs these things have no competition for comfort level and sound quality.

    September 21st, 2012

I got these as a replacement for my FMJ's which broke after a year and a half. I must say these are a notable competition to any earbuds out there now. The sound that these produce is crisp and loud, from deep punching bass to high clear highs. Skullcandy is always faithful with their lifetime warranty, and thats why I keep going back to them.

I just got these in the mail. Arrived sooner than expected. I LOVE the way they sound. Plenty of bass with the ability to balance out the mids and highs. It'll take a little bit of tweaking your EQ settings to get a good balance, but the potential is there. These things SLAM! I boost the volume on all of my ipods, and these can handle them at their max. They are a little heavy when you hold them in your hand. But once they're in you're ears, you barely notice them (besides the thumping from your music).

    Bass-less

    September 11th, 2012

    by Jalbert

I am BS about these headphones. I decided to "upgrade" after having sent my Titans through the wash. The sound quality is the exceptional standard that Skullcandy always puts out - very clear, very crisp, very balanced - but for something that advertises "pounding bass" on the inside cover, the bass level is borderline wimpy. I put the EQ on my iPhone on "Bass Booster" and the bass got better but I couldn't keep it at the right volume because the treble completely outweighed the bass. Then I tried the "Treble Reducer" setting which made everything sound muffled. Plus, the odd-angle of the rubber ear pieces is something that takes some getting used to, and the rubber cord snagged twice in the 5 minutes I used these headphones while sitting here at my desk. Thankfully my old Titans work well enough to get by for the next couple weeks so I can return these and get a new set of Titans.

Simply amazing. there not skullcandys most expensive in ear buds for nothing ya know. I let my cousins sample them they preferred my Heavy medals to their beats buds and over ear headphones...so that says alot love this product actually worth the price. The specs on the Heavy Medals are amazing . Some of the lowest frequency on the market for in ear buds. they are kinda large looking externally ,but that is expected because of the 13.5 mm driver

    Best earbuds out

    September 6th, 2012

One of the best earbuds out on the market. The bass is deep enough to bump your head, mids are good enough to write your own lyrics, highs are crisp you'd want to listen to music all day and night. On the down side i think these could have better wires like the one on FMJ's. Other than great product. I highly recommend these earbuds

This is nothing against skullcandy because i love their products I have owned the 50/50, FMJ, Smokin Buds, Hesh, SkullCrushers, and now Heavy Medal I only listen to Hip-Hop/Rap and BASS is an absolute must I thought I would try these this time since they are supposed to be pretty good... But I am disapointed and will be returning these tomorrow and buying more 50/50s the bass sounds good... just not loud or deep enough... i feel like i need turn turn the volume up but then the treble overpowers the song and really hurts my ears... These earbuds are very clear and sounds great... just not how i like to listen to music... also they are a little bigger and heavier

Phenomenal

Over the years, I've had different ear buds, from different brands. Some from JVC, some Sony. But these blew every other brand outta the park. The $80 is worth it, believe me. The Comply Memory Foam ear tips and metal travel case are the icing on the cake. For you Bass lovers, really consider getting these.

I was just expecting a bit more I love skullcandy products and will never use any other brands. I've owned multiple inkd headphones, FMJs, and now these. When I first received them in the mail, I was somewhat surprised by just how big they are. At first I had no complaints. But now comparing them to my other headphones, I've realized that they aren't at all comfortable, the sound quality isn't the greatest, and you can't turn them up too loud because other people can hear your music very easily when turned up to even just 25%. I would much rather use my FMJs because they have much greater bass and sound quality. March 8, 2013

Only the best will do. I'm on my second pair after the first pair finally gave out after almost a whole year of work related abuse and jury rigged repairs. I've had many brands, but as far as I'm concerned Skullcandy and specifically Heavy Medals is the best and will only do for this skull. A very good buy. March 2, 2013

Answer:
It depends, honestly. If you have a non-Apple device, I'd stay with the Titan as the Heavy Medal have the Mic 3. Also, the Heavy Medal has the in-ear fit and the Titans don't so, depending on how you use them, and how you like them to fit, that can be a big difference.

On both my Creative Zen and Clip players, the sound is super muted if I plug the headphones in all the way (old headphones work). If I plug them into my BlackBerry or Razor keyboard, or slide them out like half a mm, I get all the sound channels...

Any ideas? Is there an adapter or something that could help me?
