    Great headphones!

    April 22nd, 2013

    by Frank O.

For the people that only know the sound of apple earbuds this is the headphone to buy! No overpowered bass, absolute clear vocals and great looks. The only thing that I don't like after some time listening to music your ears gonna hurt a bit because your ears touch the hard ends in the cup of the headphone. Anyways, I also doubted a pretty long time before buying them, it's a pretty big purchase for teenagers as it's a lot of money. But compared to other headphones they are a lot cheaper! Pretty sure their are better headphones but for this price range you get comfort and decent quality, so stop doubting and buy !!

    Better Than Anything

    April 3rd, 2013

I first used skullcandies when I just needed some bass, so I first bought the SkullCandy Supreme Sound Uprocks and they were okay but broke in 3 months, and then I saved up for the Hesh 2 and they kept echoing and didn't play right s we instantly sent those back, and then after that I bought the Aviators and it was easy to put the jack in, able to control my music from the jack, are super fashionable, and since I have 2 dogs, they always jump on me and since the jack is removable so I feel great because my dogs won't ruin anything and I won't have to worry about anything, and even saying this review with my Aviators on and it feels like I don't even know they are there.

    I'm a convert

    March 3rd, 2013

    by Tony

I surprised myself by buying these after spending several hours at JB Hi-Fi listening to dozens of headphones for portable audio. I originally went to audition the B&W P5 portables, but the Aviators sounded so much better it was shocking. Skullcandy 'phones I've tried in the past have not impressed me and I'd relegated the brand to the "looks great but sounds lousy" basket, but these are a whole different deal. I've previously owned portable and full-size headphones by Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, Shure, Sony, AKG and Audio-Technica, including some of their top range "audiophile" phones, but amazingly I've come to prefer the sound of these Skullcandy Aviators to many of those top-line products. I have a $4,000 Stax electrostatic headphone setup for listening at home, but the Aviators perform surprisingly well in comparison and even sound slightly similar. Nowhere near as fast or transparent, but just as easy to listen to for long periods. They are musical and relaxing but not lacking in dynamics, with good extension and natural sounding bass. The top end is very slightly rolled-off, but that also stops them from being tiring to listen to and you can compensate a good deal by careful adjustment of your portable player's EQ settings. The earcups are also amongst the most comfortable I've ever worn - you can wear these headphones for hours and hardly feel them. The only possible downsides are: * They are not noise-cancelling, but that's not an inherent problem, just a feature they don't include. The isolation is as good as any non-noise-cancelling closed design. * These are not headphones for bassheads - the sound is too natural - so if that's yopu look at the more expansive MIX model which are powerfully "present" in character * The quality of construction and styling is part of what you are paying for with these headphones, but even so the RRP of $249 is just a bit more than I would have liked. If they were priced under $200 I'd give them 5 stars for value, and if you can find them discounted to that price level - grab 'em!

    Does not disappoint

I got these headphones about a month ago, so far there have not been any problems. I used to own a pair of Hesh 2s, which I thought were good...but the heshes are laughable compared to the amazing quality these headphones provide. They make all kinds of music sound better, espically Reggae and Rock. I can hear sub bass with so much clarity, I can hear high hats precisely, and vocals are godly. The headphones are also extremely sleek looking. I've listened to them in public and have been stopped before by people asking where I got them. I mostly listen to dubstep, and I personally love them when it comes to dubstep. I hear songs in a completely different way, everything is near perfection. Skullcandy also has amazing warranty. My Hesh's broke, I sent them in, and had my new headphones shipped all in about 1 week (and they said it would take a month!)

    Great sound, but high maintenance.

    January 10th, 2013

    by Thomas N.

I have had two pairs of Aviators. I love them when they work. Twice I have had problems with them, and twice I have needed to warranty them. Thankfully Skullcandy has an excellent, however slow, warranty process, and I had little trouble in that area. The first problem I had, the jack fell apart and after I put it back together sound only came out of one ear. This happened three days after they arrived in the mail. The second time, there was a wire issue at the jack, and it had to be held in a certain position for sound to play through both sides of the headphones. This happened a few months after the new pair arrived. If you don't mind paying for shipping to have them warrantied, or waiting weeks at a time for them to arrive, or are simply planning to keep them in a glass case at home then these headphones are right for you. The sound quality is quite good, with a balance in the lows, highs, and mids, they are oozing with style, and they are very comfortable to wear, but I don't think I would buy another pair. If there was free warranty claim shipping I would gladly recommend these headphones.

I really love this headphones, they sound EXTREMELY good. The only minor complaint I have is, they are not noise cancelling, I can't use them in a bus or the street because I can't hear my music they way I would like to.

    Skullcandy Aviator

    December 30th, 2012

    by Alex

Where do i start. I really didn't believe skullcandy was good. My friend bought a pair of uprocks that broke in a month. They sounded really good though. Christmas was coming up and i wanted a really good pair of headphones. So i was stuck between solos and aviators. The Beats looked simple but i didn't want just bass. The music i listen to doesnt need that much bass. Which the beats are really just bass heavy headphones. I was unsure so i took a dive and chose skullcandy. These are bigger than beats and not outrageously over priced. I would have gladly paid 200 for these they're great. I have only one complaint. Very minor though. There needs to be a little more bass if they had that they would be the best on the market. Other than that keep up the good work skullcandy.

    Unexpectedly good

I bought these end of line as a bit of a punt as they seemed very comfortable. They were then also reduced in the curry's closing sale so I paid significantly less than half price for them. My expectation of a lifestyle brand was not high but I as struggle to wear headphones as I usually find them too uncomfortable I decided to give them a try. I have spent 20 years of my life designing Hi End HiFi so I am pretty fussy and expected these to be OK only for background use. Congratulations have to go to SkullCandy they are the first lifestyle brand who have made a headphone I feel I can recommend. Whilst a long way from perfect, these are a good pair of headphones even at retail price. The bass to treble balance is good and unlike allot of headphones they don't create a false bass warmth by emphasising the 80 - 150 Hz region. The treble and mid range are clear with only a hint of harshness as the volume is turned up. The bass is well extended and sounds in time i.e. the high frequency component of a drum beat is in sync with the low frequency. Sound isolation is not great so not ideal if you want to listen to them in a noisy environment. They also leak a little sound so not great if you want to listen loud in a quite office without upsetting your colleagues. Highly recommended if you want a stylish headphone that isn't a massive sound compromise.

    Reliable, Consistently Surprising

I bought these when they first came out, and am even wearing them as I write this review. These have lasted me over 2 years, and are barely showing signs of wear and tear. Comfort- 10/10. I don't know what the ear-cups are made of, but it stays on my ears for hours on end, even 8-hour work days, and it barely feels there. My ears fit perfectly. The top of the headphones look slightly cheap, but they feel great. Durability- 9.5/10. I'm only seeing cosmetic issues now, after 2 years. I sleep with these on a lot, and they've fallen from my hands more times than I'd like to say. But the headphones aren't even scratched. There's a spot on my left earcup where the top layer is rubbed off, but the inside stuffing is staying in. Also, from the wire being wrapped around the headphones for storage, there are a few kinks in the cord. But these are merely cosmetic. Sound- 10/10. Perfect for an audiophile who doesn't want to pay more than $300. I notice background noises and instruments in songs I've had for a while, constantly. Can handle highs and mids, bass is not shake-your-head powerful, but it is deep and it complements songs. Hard-drop dubstep enthusiasts may want to buy something else.

    Amazing Pair of Headphones!

    October 19th, 2012

    by Nick

If you are searching for a pair of headphones that have amazing sound quality, AND looking just down right sexy, the search stops here! These bad boys produce heaven like sound quality, hence Skullcandy's phrase, "Supreme Sound". These headphones live up to that high standard and beyond. Here are a few important points about these cans. First and most important, Sound. These headphones sound just awesome as stated before. The highs are crisp, but not tinny or too sharp. The mids are just right. And the bass is punchy. It does not distort or over power the rest of the sound like Beats by Dre do. 10/10 Comfort These headphones have an amazing feel when you put them on your head! The ear cups are cushioned very nicely! The band on the top is comfortable, you barely notice that its on top of your head! The only complaint that i have is that the ear cups press a little on my head. Thus creating a slight "Pressure" feeling. My right ear also gets sore after wearing them for a long period of time. I think thats just me though. 8/10 Noise isolation These headphones dont require batteries like some headphones do for noise isolation. I am not particularly impressed with the aviators noise isolation. Whenever my dog barks (tiny little creature with a high pitched yip!:P) i clearly hear it when volume is at 50%. I suppose to solve this problem you can simple turn the music up louder! 5/10 Style These headphones are downright sexy! I have the black with chrome edging. It looks quite awesome! Many people have complimented how sleek they look! And they pair very nicely with Aviator sunglasses! 10/10 Overall, I would highly recommend these to anybody! So stop reading this review and buy them! :D

I don't think I am going to take these off... Super comfortable. Impeccable sound quality. Handy in-line music control. And a LIFETIME WARRANTY. That seriously pumps the value up 100%. Please enjoy these headphones (or go try them first at a best buy near you). January 28, 2012
I USED to laugh at Skullcandy I heard the Aviators on a whim at a demo stand expecting to hear overpriced stylized headphones that have a rapper's publishing company attached to the picture on the box but what I heard instead was a highly detailed set with bass and treble extension beyond anything else Skullcandy has ever put out, and has this amazing detail and clarity that I believe will skyrocket SC away from its stigma of muddy, bass heavy, budgetminded stylish headsets. The Aviators are true a contender in the audiophile world and I prefer it over a lot of its competitors. Is it the best at its price point? I couldn't say, but it surely is the best looking headphone within a hundred bucks or more. I have to say again that the Aviators gave me wonderful resolution, and I could pick out different instruments and hear each member of a band, quartet, or hear each section in an orchestra. Listening to them loudly though, brought on some ear fatigue. The clarity comes with crispy sound that sounds good for about two hours before it gets a little tiring to hear. I have another set with warmer, more laid back sound that doesn't have this problem, but also doesn't have the extension that the Aviators do. Nature of the beast. Some issues I have with these phones is that they don't isolate particularly well. In order to drown out the world, the sound has to be turned up close to the point where my phone tells me its dangerous to listen to. Also, with the volume up, I run into the fatigue problem sooner. In my opinion - just accept some outside world leakage. I might try some mods on the earpads but due to the unique shape, I won't be able to just swap out better earpads that are available. Also, the headband consists essentially of two steel wires. The whole set seems really sturdy to deal with being tossed around (and the cans are encased with polycarbonate, the same material used in airplane windshields) but I'd be concerned with repeatedly putting on and taking off the set might stress the wires and snap them with use. People with small heads likely need not worry at all I think. Quick note on the cans - they're covered with polycarbonate - I don't know if it's ballistics-rated like airplane windshields or even like eyepro, but they were ground to be very clear. If you took those things off and stuck them in a frame, you'd end up spending close to a hundred bucks for that set of sunglasses. Skullcandy put a LOT of detail into these headphones. I picked up these headphones on a whim, with a negative bias against Skullcandy, but these have turned me around and I brought home a set in black. I highly recommend these if you want your good sound to look good too. Heck, even if you don't care for being stylin then get them anyway. January 26, 2012
Almost There These are the best headphones I have used so far. They have great quality and are just as good as the Dr. Dre solos. They are very comfortable and I can wear them all day long. They block out almost all the sound. I wish they had a little more bass but besides that great sound. January 23, 2012
Best for the price I've had these headphones almost a month now, and i love them! They are cool, sleek, and hella comfortable. I've owned alot of over-ear headphones from skullcrushers to sony noise cancelling, and these are better then all of them. Some people compare these to Beats studios, bvut they are not in that price range. You have to compare these to Beats solos, and they way excel them. They are more comfortable, cheaper, and look swag. The bass is not like a pair of beats no. But the mid's and especially the high's are amazing! and the bass is not bad by any means. Yes the polycarbonate coverings may scratch but only is you throw them around. And if they do die you can send them back to skullcandy and you get another pair. It's a win win all around. If you are looking for a good pair of headphones that are not insanely priced like Beats, then these are the #1 choice. January 23, 2012
SPEACHLESS To tell you the truth..love dre,,but beats eat aviators dung!. These are so much more clear. Went to the store listened to the same song on the aviators, the $300 beats pro...hand's down Aviators blow them away. So much better! Beats had just slightly more bass..but dosnt matter still nothing compared to Aviators. If you lookin for some new headphones...dont wait to get these. January 20, 2012
Better than Beats by Dre These sound wayyy clearer and crisper than the Beats Solos and Solo HDs. I'm not too sure about the Studios, and definitely not the Pros or Detox models, but those are much more expensive. The Solos and Solo HDs only play the music in one "layer." With the Aviators, you can hear layers in your music like never before. These don't have as much punch in the bass compared to the Solos or Solo HDs, but the bass is much cleaner and crisper. The two Solo models make the bass too loud for most users and also very muddy. The bass on these are better for most users. Also, they have a very original look. I like the design on these better than any Beats headphone because all celebrity headphones (Sleek by 50 Cent, Soul by Ludacris, Beats by Dre, etc) look to shiny and too similar. It seems everyone has those. These have a great, original design. Finally, these seem very durable. They feature stainless steel bars. But even if they break, Skullcandy is generous enough to offer lifetime warranty, so you can feel safe. January 20, 2012
