These are the best headphones that have ever been seen by or invented by mankind. The colors work great together, it has a great physical look, and they're top quality. I haven't gotten them myself for only one reason, the price. Yes, they are good headphones, but the one and only problem is the price and this completely ruins my chance of getting these.

    The goods and bads

    April 1st, 2013

    by Root Khan

lets face it, all tech has flaws. despite this i am a huge skullcandy fan. the benefits of owning these are that they are exclusive, literally ive seen no one in real life with these which feels good and the sound + bass quality is astounding. but..... in conjunction with the other comments and reviews, only drawback is you will most definately be sending them in for a replacement if skullcandy doesnt revamp the quality of the headband, specifically the center where you can see there is the most structural stress and the only support is the padding. combine this with the element of tempurature change and your guaranteed to have a growing crack of some kind within about half a year but skullcandy has the best warranty in the industry so its no biggie. just hope skullcandy continues to improve and they'll still have loyal customers coming back as they continue to fix and address drawbacks and flaws.

I have had this before but this color scheme is so crazy I cant stop starting at them. I had an earlier edition of the mixmaster and these sound much better. Not saying the other ones were bad but I feel there is a slight improve on sound. The bass is stronger in this pair. It also seems the structure is better in this pair than my other pair.

And i must say, even when all combined, they still do not compare to these! these litterly blew me away, my ear drums cried from awesomeness. its like a concert in your ears. everyone has to own a pair of these. your life is nothing without them. there isnt a headphone in existance that can ever beat these. that is until skullcandy blows it out of the park again. theyre like babe ruth on skulcandy steroids

Amazing headphones. The lows, mids, and highs are so balanced which is a relief from beats. I feel like most headphones within this price range compromise sound quality for booming bass. Skullcandy's revamped itself with these new headphones.

    January 16th, 2013

    by William

I have been on the fence with Skullcandy for awhile, the old line had terrible sound and broke a lot. So I stopped buying. So when I saw these they peaked my interest and I had to have them. I ended up receiving them for Christmas and was very excited when I opened them. The Sound quality is to par with the price range. They look amazing, especially in blue. The mute button is an amazing feature and I use it every time I wear them. They come with two cables, a long dj cable and a shorter cable with a mic. The headphones have two jacks one on each side. The cushions feel like a cloud and the ear pads are very nice. But the only issue with these is the plastic headband. There is a weak point that isn't reinforced as much as the rest. It eventually develops cracks and will completely snap, even from normal use. Fortunately Skullcandy has the best warranty.

I must say these are the best headphones ive ever heard. Beats by dre studio headphones sound HORRIBLE compared to these headphones! The mixmasters are so well balanced in sound and sound excelent when listening to any genre of music. They have nice thumping bass that will sound good with any hip-hop song. The bass is powerful enough for people who love bass yet it doesn't interfere with the sound quality of the song. The vocals are clear and crisp as if you were in the studio with the artist. And since Ive been listening to these headphones, ive heard instruments in the background of a song that ive never heard before. Its exactly what the artist entended you to hear. The style of these headphones are great and it has a ton of features for DJ's! And last but not least they don't leak sound and don't let sound in! You could be in a quiet room and the person next to you can barely hear the song at max volume. Or you could be in a club, loud car, or around a lot of traffic and it will drown out all the noise around you! Trust me their worth saving up for... Simply Stunning

    October 13th, 2012

    by Chrispy G

These are my third high-end skullcandy headphones. First I had some aviators which got stolen and I very much miss those. Then I got some SKs, and then they broke from someone stepping on the right earcup. Now I have the highest phones Skullcandy has to date, the Mix Master. First, hardware: The two cables included (straight w/mic3 and coiled DJ w/screw in + 6mm jack) were very substantial and sturdy. Eight months out I still play around with the coil cable and it feels brand new. They are very durable and more than satisfying (9/10). Next, the case. Although it certainly looks menacing it only provides average protection. The inside has a divider, elastic mesh pocket, and a main compartment for the MMMs themselves. It has plenty of room for the cables, cleaner cloth, and a few other things and does just what I need it to on a daily basis (7/10). Now onto the phones. The cushions and headband are simply fantastic. The soft-touch leather and memory foam are just amazing. I can go hours wearing these phones without any discomfort. However be advised that the earcups are not very deep so if your ears stick out they can be slightly discomforted by the metal speaker cover. The headband is strong and very well constructed, although I do advise not to over stretch the headphones outward too far because the polycarbonate shell can crack if pushed to the limit (just don't be stupid with them and you will be fine). Overall very pleasing (9/10). Now the real surprise was the sound. Oh my sweet mother was I blown into a different universe with the sound. I was of course setting my expectations high with my previous headphones but what I got was much much more than I was expecting. HIghs: This is an area where skullcandies in the past have failed. I knew the target market for the majority of the lower end products were young, active, bass head kinda people and the heaphones skullcandy made were perfect for them. Now the Mix Master is in a different galaxy in sound quality. The highs (high hats, cymbols, some wind instruments) are immaculate. The sound-staging and imaging blew my mind; you can hear the little distinct tings and hisses off in the distance of the music. Much better than I was expecting and still to this day I am blown back (10/10). Mids: By far the best part of these headphones is the vocal clarity and dynamic range. The bands you rock out to sound like they should be in the room next to you when you finish whirring your head around with your eyes closed. The vocal clarity is miraculous, the crispness of the voices and the minute details provide a new music listening experience (11/10). Bass: Now the big question, "How good is the BASS??" well if you want shake your head off and blow your eardrums then go for the skullcrushers, but the Mix Masters won't disappoint even the bassiest bass-heads. The lows come in very Very clearly. It sounds tight and quick, very responsive. In the song "In the Way" by Nero the bass comes in with balance. It overwhelmed me at first but as I listened more I could still hear all the vocals and highs going on in the background. So these cans have the bass; clean, clear, powerful, punchy, deep, chest throbbing, head shaking (literally at high volumes), bass (10/10). Overall: Best celebrity headphones for sure, right up there wit the big boys in audiophile land, outrageously stylish, practical, functional, and awesome in general. Pros: stylish, comfortable, durable, amazing amazing amazing sound, stash-able, two cables for different uses, warranty Cons: be careful with the headband, case is only 5/10 for protection

A critique on my Favorite cans ever.

    September 30th, 2012

    by Andrew

I absolutely love the sound and design. These are my absolute favorite headphones ever. The features are great, and it's clear that a lot of thought was put into making these an undisputedly incredible set of headphones. They sound great on all levels of the spectrum. The bass has minimal distortion, the mids are bright, and the swivel-mono and mute features were well thought out. Now I'm gonna be nit picky: >There are two places where the Aviators are clearly better: the cable length (not counting the DJ cable) and the ear cup shape. MixMasters are comfortable to wear, but many people don't like having their ears touch the end of the 'ear wells." The cable (with the Mic3) is is too long for a cable made for everyday use with an iPods and laptop. >The top of the headband cracked one day as I was putting them on my head. Definitely need to find a way to prevent that. Ya, lifetime warranty (totally awesome), but I don't want to have to use it within 2 months- ya know? >White. Y'all need to sell a white set of MMs in-house

Jsut got these headphones. Look great and sound even better! I am a classical musician and these work wonders for everything from Beethoven to Bassnesctar! The big question, better than Beats by Dre?? Definitely yes. Studio or pro. The mids and highs are crystal clear and the bass hits clearer and louder and doesnt muddy up the rest of everything. Only con is the headband is a little tigh but i probably have a big head. I just take them off for a couple minutes every hour and that makes it fine!

    August 9th, 2012

    by Jesse LaJoie

The sound embarrases all the "Beats by dre", "soul by ludacris", "Bose", and every other major brand I have listened to. The sound is flawless, at first I wished they had more bass because its more of a soothing, smooth, but powerful bass. But I later learned that that made for well rounded headphones whether it's country, Rap, Pop, ect.... But if you want them to hit hard, bass boost all your music and it's like two 12's sittin on your ears. The 50mm Mylars are amazing. They'll handle any volume you throw at them without blowing. The cable for these headphones are litreally bombproof! Ive had this same cable for an entire year and it's untouched condition, as to where the "beats by dre" cable would look like a cougar had tried to eat it after a year of use. The style of the Mix master all black is just sick.. There isn't another headphone that can compete with it's clean appearance. Now, the ONE problem with these headphones... after about a year of gentle use, I noticed two small cracks accross my headband. But remember, i used these everyday. But never dropped, scratched, or mistreated them. Overall, these are the best headphones on the market by far.

When I first recieved my MixMasters, I was blown away. The quality was amazing, the sound quality was unparalleled by it's opponents, and the overall package was just perfect. However, it does have it's flaws. After wearing the headphones for an hour, you really start to realize how snug they are. You start to get uncomfortable with them and need a ten minute break. Its a small flaw, but it's still one. The comfort is great for short periods of time. The only other flaw I could find is quite large. One day, I was putting on my MixMasters just like I normally would when I heard a rather loud popping sound. Thats when I knew they cracked. Upon inspection, I found that there were two small cracks in the headband. Keep in mind that I baby these headphones. They still look new. Anyways, I'm just dissappointed by the cracking. I just shipped them back and I am expecting a replacement. Overall, they are very good headphones. I would deffinitly reccommend these. I would of given five stars if they were still solid.

    SKULL CANDY LET ME DOWN!

I am an active dj. I have gigs atleast twice a week. I used the headphones on my gig and nowhere else. When i first got them WOW I was in love. I got it as a late Christmas gift from my girlfriend. Everything about it was awesome after awhile i noticed two lines appearing on the bend near the top pad. One night it split at the line and was not useable after that. I was devistated! Mix master mike has been my Dj Hero all my life and he really let me down with this one. The only thing that i could salvage was the ear pads. I bought a cheap headphone later with the same size cans and put the mix master pads on it. It felt the same! Very disappointed i only had the Mix Master Mike headphones for a month till they broke.

    Best Celebrity Headphones Out There

    July 26th, 2012

    by KingCheez

I was looking into a good pair of headphones, everyone talked about and had Beats so I tried a pair and was not impressed. If you only listen to rap music with simple heavy bass then sure go with them, but I wanted headphones that would be able to handle from various Dubstep to Avenged Sevenfold to John Williams and right before purchasing a different pair of headphones, Skullcandy released these. Having the 50/50s as my first purchase of headphone and had fallen in love, I decided to trust Skullcandy and buy these. I have not regretted that decision at all. I was impressed by the amazing sound quality, nice deep bass (not too much) and incredible treble frequency and clearness. The sound overall is just phenomonal for whatever you may want to listen to. And then the headphones themselves: sure the may be a little flashy but I like it ;) they are sleek and the fold up design is great. The cushioning for the ears feel amazing, I could wear them all day, even sleep with them! The DJ features are also nifty and original which is just another plus. All in all (sorry this review is so long) I would definitely recommend these headphones to anyone especially DJs because you will definitely get what you pay for and more!

    Great Buy

    June 30th, 2012

    by Chris Ghein

Overall I am more than satisfied with my Mix Masters. The Sound Quality is far beyond what I expected after having owned multiple Skullcandy headphones. The Dynamics of the sound is amazing, it makes the sound feel as though its around you and not just being pumped right into your ears. You can hear the depth in the music and vocals and highs are crisp and clear. The low mids/bass aren't thumping and vibrating like skullcrushers, but they are clean and precise and you won't miss a note. The memory foam headband and earpads are ludicrously comfortable; in fact as I am typing this I've been wearing my MMM for 3 hours straight and I do not plan on stopping any time soon. I might not be a DJ but I can see the usefulness of the dual inputs, mute button, coil cable, swivel to mono, and replaceable ear pads (that is why they are call "encore pads"). The coil cable is indestructible and feels super high quality. The additional mobile straight cable with Mic3 would be great but the volume controls do not work with my Samsung Galaxy Player. The plug ins are snug and sturdy and the cables are great quality. Cons, these things feel cheap. The polycarbonate (plastic) construction does not feel durable or tough, however I have owned these phones for a good 4 months and after taking some abuse they aren't showing any signs of wear. The aluminum frame holding it all together underneath is lightweight, flexible, and very durable. As far as build quality goes I have to give it a 3.5/5 only because of the plastic. Sound: best I have heard in a long time Comfort: never worn a pair of headphones like them Build quality: meh, but they hold up well Features: great and thoughtful, good for anyone Overall: Best Skullcandies I have owned (Aviators, SK pros, Hesh, Skullcrushers, titans, ink'd, smokin' buds, the fix) , won't replace them for a long time.

So I received my Red Mix Masters on Friday and wore them on a flight to Miami this morning. I had 3 different people ask me about them. These are one of the hottest looking headphones on the market, and people will notice. I had tried a pair of MM's before but I was pleasantly surprised with the sound isolation, I barely heard the plane take off and when I listened at full volume the person next to me couldn't hear (yeah, I asked). Overall I give these a perfect rating. My only complaint is that Skullcandy didn't come out with cool colors much sooner.

I love my mix masters, I really do. But there is one problem that needs to be fixed. The breaking of the head band. I mean for $300 you think they could last at least a year or 6 months. Nope didnt happen, this issue hasnt ben resolved since the 1st time the mix masters were released. Please skullcandy, if anything just fix the breaking of the headband. Then you'd have no problems from me.

These bad boys are absolutely amazing. I listen to them every day for long periods of time and have never once had a problem with anything. They're very comfortable and have an extremely good sound. Everything sounds great and is perfectly balanced. Also, they completely block the outside world. I wear them when I walk home from school every day and hear very little. If I were to turn the volume up though, there would be nothing. Not the howling wind nor the masses of barking dogs. One thing that really surprised was the bass. It's better than the Skullcrushers. Much better. I literally can't think of a single thing wrong with these excluding the cons that you get with every pair of headphones on the market. Of course, they leak sound a loud volume but listening at about 75% volume leaves me with no problems. They do get a little bit uncomfortable after awhile, but you could wear them for a long time before an discomfort comes in.

    GOOODBYE BEATS

    April 23rd, 2012

    by Knourzkill

these are the best headphone on the market. no headphone can compete for the price or the quality and sound of these headphones. beats now have a competitor in the music business and they are getting BEAT. these headphones should not even be compared to the studios. they require batteries and have only a left plug in for the cord, the head set arc is flimsy and small and also a real flimsy plastic feel to them. the mixmasters have a 50mm(10 more than studios) and are a pretty similair competitor to the pros in perspective but have natural articulation and are not heavy. and for 200 bucks less they shouldnt be compared at all to any headphone.these are the best. good job skullcandy.

Just got these in the mail this morning and I was a little concerned because for $300 I wasn't too sure if I was overpaying. When I pulled it out it was not in that annoying clear packaging that you cut yourself on. This came in a proper box with a sleeve cover and everything was organized very proffesionally. I was also stoked to see that you got both the coiled cable and the straight which was a bit of a concern of mine but SK has you covered. The ear pillows are amazing, soft leather with memory foam. I first tried it out on pandora radio on my phone and I expected more bass(however there is no equalizer to use so that might change) than what people wrote about. The swivel is really nice, you can tell its greased up but its sturdy once its on your head. The mute button is also really helpful and in my opinion should be a standard on all over-ear headphones. The band construction is really nice, what appears to be alloy with the plastic cover is super sturdy yet not too heavy. Its also not a flimsy plastic cover, this is a solid build. As far as extras they give you a nice carrying case and the professional adapter jack, they really made sure to cover everything in this one. Over all these are definitely a contender for Sony and of course Beats. Maybe not worth the $300 to some but if you're planning to go big then these are definitely to consider.

BETTER THAN BEATS BY DR. DRE!!!!!!

    April 7th, 2012

    by Phil

These headphones by far are the best iv'e used. beats by dre stink, they are completely over-rated. beats by dre have awful muddy bass. terrible mids, and weak highs. And by the way, have you noticed that on the beats website, you can't find any of the tech specs or customer reviews? they do that because otherwise people would find out how terrible they actually are, and nobody would use them. Dr. Dre doesn't even use them himself.

I have had them for about 2 and a half months and still working amazing. i listen to music 24/7, before and after school, at home, in the car. these headphones are the best i have ever owned. Amazing crisp audio quality, the price is up there but i think they are worth the money. the only con is the comfort. it might only be my set or my different sized ears but one of the ear cups just barely touches and gets irritating after about 15 mins of wearing them. all together i would recommend this to everyone who wants to enjoy music.

When i first put these on today i loved them and dint want to take them off , as and owner of Sennheiser's and Beats by Dre, these take the cake and there is no question as to where my brand loyalty belongs now along with my 50/50's and as quite and audiophile i need hard bass, crisp mids and amazing lows, So yes i would recommend them and i do advise anyone trying to make the choice between these and Beats by Dre studios, pros, mixrs, solos ,and etc to choose these , they have the upper hand. Its as simple as product focus and development to the Djs requirements. Although i was willing to shell out the 333$ for these plus tax many people would be no so comfortable doing this with a skullcandy name , while i would see why i believe the price should be dropped to compete more evenly with Beats by Dre. I also did not think anything of the previous cons like Headband breakage , ear cup comfortably, etc were true , and i hope this a useful review and enjoy your purchase

AMAZING QUALITY AND BASS, BEAUTIFUL DESIGN

    by Reece

Honestly have to say. Best DJing headphones with a trademark i've ever listen from, ludacris, beats, audioteknika(Sorry for any spelling mistakes) are quite miniscule.. Why are they great? well the audio is supreme.. no joke better then beats.. they've got such crystal clear audio with no static even at the highest amount of volume.. and the bass is so inturpertive.. it comphrehands mids, lows and highs so well. it doesnt include any artifical bass unlike beats. So my opinion on the audio and bass is, best audio, amazing lovely bass.. Now the comfort is increadible.. the memory foam is amazing and is so soft.. the design is amazing to, looks amaingly sexy.. it's easily stashable, and quite light for DJ headphones. and the price is increadiblly cheap for DJ headphones.. If you're a DJ , GET THEM, if you just want amazing sound and bass, get them! Cool features are you can use the DJ cord and normal to listen to two items, if you're listeing to a song on you're iphone and want another person to hear let them plug in there headphones into the other daisy chain hole. and it works!

Well my Knicks Mix Masters just came 2 days ago, since then ive listened for about 15 hours of just music, and then some videos. I was really surprised by the quality of the headphones, they are great. When theres no music playing its pretty easy to hear whats going on around you, but right when the music starts playing its like insane noise cancelling. Also its awesome because i listen to all types of music and the balance of the sounds are amazing. The cushions on the ear cups are also so good, its like melted butter and leather on your ears haha. The only downside is that after probably about an hour i had to take them off and shake off my ears a little, but then the headphones went right back on.

These headphones sound amazing, have loud bass, and everything else sounds crisp and articulated. They are by far the best headphones I have ever owned. The only downside is that after about 3 hours it starts to push on my ear. The depth of the headphone itself is not very much so that the speaker inside the headphone irritates my ear after some time. Because of this I would have rather gotten Bose noise cancelling. Besides that wonderful, best sound from what I have tried.

    Skullcandy Mix Masters>Beats

    December 25th, 2011

    by Josef (JoeMaster)

I have been doing a lot of research on headphones for Christmas and I have been bouncing between a pair of these, Aviators or Beats by Dr. Dre. The Beats had great sound quality, I won't lie, but they felt very uncomfortable on my ears. I notice that they had new Monster ones that were over ear, but required batteries just to listen to music! I thought that was garbage. I tried on the Aviators and great sound quality and amazing comfort, but not so good color choices. I then go a pair of these and they are all around amazing. Not one problem with them, extremely great sound quality, amazing comfort, very durable, unique features, and the set up overall is not bad. I almost cried tears of joy when I got these, and glad I didn't get the Beats. Skullcandy Mix Masters FOR THE WIN!!!

I bought these for my wife for Christmas and couldn't resist taking them for a test drive. I'm not into the whole KidRobot dunny thing but I do like the design on the headphones. These headphones sound UNBELIEVABLE, much better than the Beats Studios that I have used for a couple years. No batteries needed, DJ cable and traditional 3.5 cable with mic. The thing I liked the best is the mute button, no need to shuffle for the pause button on the iPhone any longer, simply tap the mute button on the right side of the headphone. Now for the packaging! I was really impressed with the quality and design of the box, we will certainly keep the box as a collectors item.

Answer:
Well for sure people will say Beats when they think about headphone - but that's not my opinion. Beats Studio has a ultra high sensivity headphone which is 115 deciBel - which other headphone that I found only have sensivity range from 98dB-106dB. With Beats Studio, for sure that your ears will blow after hearing it with maximum volume for more than an hour (hahaha). Furthermore, Beats Studio very not fragile - i had test it for sound burning proses for about 8 hours and it's already blow. Yes! Both your ears and headphones are very-very fragile ones if you chose beats.

Well, for Skullcandy Mix Master, I haven't test it yet with sound burning but for an overview it's exellence. It much durable for your ears (of cource) and for the headphones itself. It's comfortable to use and the best headphone that will suite anybody - well it's my insticnt.

My friend...these are way better than the studio beats. The Studios were actually one of my choices for headphones and i chose these. The have pretty close sound EQ, but these don't take batteries. The only difference in the EQ is that the Hi on the beats hurt your ears a little at maximum volume, while these don't.

Answer:
beats are funny thing to be honest. They pack a lot of bass and handle high volumes quite well. however it seems like majority of people agree that they are good for rap and that's about it. I personally don't own a pair but i borrowed my mates for a few days and they weren't too bad. lots of style and a lightweight build was a nice plus but for what you pay they're not worth it. also with many people i've talked to who have beats they ALL said the same thing; "get the 2 year, $50 warranty". that pretty much means that they're designed to die within 2 years. skullcandy is great cause of their warranty. and a lot of their headphones are well rounded which makes them good for anything from rap, to classical music to rock. and i'm sure the mix masters will be able to handle whatever you have it plugged in to.

these headphones are similar to the studios. I have both pairs these are a bit more bass heavy, yet have good balance and are not active noise canceling. style just depends on the person, but i prefer the look of these to the beats. These have a nice memory foam ear cup that feels better on my head than the studios

I don't believe there are currently NBA colors, however I've heard more colors will be added in 2012. If you want NBA colors, check out the Skullcandy Hesh, however those aren't nearly as high quality as these (from what I've heard - I don't have these myself but given the $250 price difference I would assume they're quite different).

The Sk Pro definitely beat the 300 dollars Beats by Dre's. But the Mix Master Mike didn't. I was disappointed. Mix the SK Pro sound with the Mix Master Mike look and you have the perfect pair of headphones (Possibly best of all time). Sounds like I'm exaggerating but it'd be a great match.

The Mix Master family is made for the professional who likes deep sounds. They come with a lot of bass(So you don't have to jack up your equalizer), give you some great mids, and still kick out the vocals like you would expect. Dual placement for your cord, multiple cord options, and mutes for each ear. The Aviators are a great headphone, and definitely worth the money, but Mix Masters are Aviators on Steroids. EAT THAT BEATS!

Answer:

Answer:
these headphones are similar to the studios. I have both pairs these are a bit more bass heavy, yet have good balance and are not active noise canceling. style just depends on the person, but i prefer the look of these to the beats. These have a nice memory foam ear cup that feels better on my head than the studios

Answer:
I don't believe there are currently NBA colors, however I've heard more colors will be added in 2012. If you want NBA colors, check out the Skullcandy Hesh, however those aren't nearly as high quality as these (from what I've heard - I don't have these myself but given the $250 price difference I would assume they're quite different).

Mix Master Vs. SK Pro

Customer avatar

Gypsy_MLP:FiM
So i have the SK Pro's and im wondering if i should sell them (still have the box and everything) and get the Mix Master? But im wondering what are the differences between the two? They're twice as expensive I know that, but to me the SK Pro's beat out the $300 Beats by Dr.Dre.

Answer:
The Sk Pro definitely beat the 300 dollars Beats by Dre's. But the Mix Master Mike didn't. I was disappointed. Mix the SK Pro sound with the Mix Master Mike look and you have the perfect pair of headphones (Possibly best of all time). Sounds like I'm exaggerating but it'd be a great match.

I prefer these over beats. The beats headphones are overly clear like CD's. There is so much emptiness between sounds.
While these skull candies are full like vinyl (without the pops and scratches obv. ).
Go with skull candy

Answer:
The Mix Master family is made for the professional who likes deep sounds. They come with a lot of bass(So you don't have to jack up your equalizer), give you some great mids, and still kick out the vocals like you would expect. Dual placement for your cord, multiple cord options, and mutes for each ear. The Aviators are a great headphone, and definitely worth the money, but Mix Masters are Aviators on Steroids. EAT THAT BEATS!
