The Riot comes with a standard 3.5 mm jack. The product does not come with a splitter for a separate mic jack. If you already own a splitter, you may be able to plug it into the 3.5 mm jack and have some functionality.

It's attached to the left ear cord and you don't have to hold it. It sits on the cord in an area right next to your mouth so it'll pick up the sound. I have an iPod nano so I just turn on voice memo and it will record you. IDK, what iPod or MP3 player you are using but it's pretty easy to figure out.
