I would definitely suggest any of the ink'd earbuds because of their great sound and bass output and great quality for the money. While it's not the most top notch in-ear earbuds they are certainly one of the best if your looking for anything under 30 dollars. I don't know much about skullcandy's quality control because I have only bout a few products from them but so far I am very satisfied. Thank you skullcandy.

      May 6th, 2012

      by Bill

I went for these because I needed new earbuds and was low on money, and had good experiences with a friend's pair of these in a different colour. The fit is alright, but the three different size tips it comes with range from too small, too small again, and way too large. These headphones are also terrible for running, as they constantly fall out, and the amount of noise they make from bouncing around, even while walking, all but drowns out the music. The sound quality is okay. It's balanced enough, and doesn't overpower everything with bass or ear-splitting treble, but it lacks clarity. These would have been okay pocket earbuds had they not gone out in one ear after having them for four months. If you're only going to be using them while sitting down and aren't an audiophile, then these may be a decent cheap pair to have around. Otherwise, go for something better.

The best in earphones I have found

      April 30th, 2012

      by Kim Lucas

Although my first pair stopped working in one ear after a short time, I was given a replacement with no hassle. I have had this pair for a couple of years now and still work well. The earphones themselves are perfect for those with different shaped inner ears!! I cannot wear any other type of ear phones due to this problem so skullcandy's are perfect for me! Can you bring out the under water version please?!!

After trying so many earphones that either fall out or hurt, I'm so glad that I found these! These always stay in my ear and I can't even feel them! Also, the sound is great and is so much better than any I've tried. This was my second pair as my first broke after about eight months, but Skullcandy sent me another pair! Highly recommend these!

The ear buds were comfy and sounded pretty good, but I also had problems getting the volume and mic to work on these ones. I also had the same problem with these as with my previous Skull Candy's, they stopped working after about 6-9 months. You'd have to hold the wire on the input end in a certain position for them to work.

So this is my 4th pair of earbuds in three years. So yeah, you get my point in buying Skull Candy. So far, they're fantastic. No sound get through them except to what you are listening to. Which is great if you have annoying, obnoxious, loud friends and/or siblings. Great quality, great price. No problems at the moment except that I had to configure how much bass was going through them.

these ear buds will be sure to please your ears and your wallet! They are affordable and have great sound quality, the only problem I had with them is that they are easily broken and I've gone through two pairs so far but that was over the course of four years so I think they held up quite well. The sound quality of these is great for the price. I've been hearing that they compare to higher priced competitors' products and usually, that they are even better. I just bought my second set tonight. The originals went to the gym a lot and even got left in my pocket and washed. They never failed me. Only reason I bought a 2nd set is because I lost the others. Can't beat the sound quality, comfort, and durability for the price.

This was my second pair and it started having the same problem as the first pair; problem with the wire connected to the plug. After a few moths use, one ear piece stops working, and then they both die. Tweaking the position of the wire makes it work for sometime. They need to re-design it (maybe bend 90 degrees so there is no stress on the point of connection)

This is my 4 th set. My first were Sennheiser cx 300. I lost them on the bus along with my phone. Then got the philips she 9700 paired them with 5800 and they offered good sound and were good with the split cable it offered. They served me well for a year. then I went in for the sennheiser hd 202 these head phones were the best that I have used so far but the 3 meter cable doesn't make it a happy headphone when you travel in public transport or go jogging. So they are stuck with my desktop and that takes me to the present skullcandy inked The bass good but is not that well defined as you get on cx, its a bit foggy. The highs are shrill in some songs and the mids are okay. Not recommended for bollywood songs. Good for hip hop, for everything else I have another pair of Phillips which lacks the punch but its good for all other genres. some how the candies sound horrible on my ipod and great on my nokia 5800. Highly recommended for nokia phone users

I was planning to get a set of high-price in-ear headphones but settled for the Ink'd as a 'temporary' replacement. When I used them though I was amazed by the sound quality and bass response from such an affordable pair. I can actually write music with these, which would be completely impossible on 99% of other in-ear phones of this price. Try the other earbud in your right ear. Sometimes the bass is only in one side. Also, your driver could have gone out. If so, skullcandy's warranty has your back.

No, you can't control the volume of the mic with the inline feature. Those would be settings you need to adjust on your device, like lowering the sensitivity.

    Answer:
The mic is a passive system. You're not doing anything by pressing the button other than attempting to pause or play your music. If you're hooked up to an iPod, bring up an app that uses the mic, and it will automatically function. Think of it as an extension of your device, rather than a separate unit.

HOW DO I GET REPLACEMENT RUBBER PARTS!?

    Answer:
I have both. I like the smokin better, though they both have cons.
My only con with the smokin is the volume adjuster. It gets annoying having it get pushed down to minimum. Other than that they're great and they sound better than ink'd.
Ink'd is great but I hate it because it falls out of my left ear no matter what, the smokin ones do not.
During the night when I sleep I listen to my ink'd and during the day I listen to my smokin.

    Answer:
It depends... if you are looking for affordability with a decent sound quality, go for the Ink'd, but don't expect durability because, as you can see, the cord is thin and not very well supported at its common torque points. If you are looking for something with a much better bass range, better durability, and have a larger budget that you feel like spending on a pair of buds, then go with the Smokin' Buds. The Smokin' Buds pay more attention to the bass range and seem to have a more durable cord, however, I would still be careful about how I store them and also be careful about how much you use the little slider in the middle. They are also heavy, so they slip out a bit which isn't as much of a problem with the Ink'd buds.

I think that the ink'd buds are better. I have both and i feel that the ink'd feel better and sound a little better to. They are both a great price and durable so whichever pair you think are cooler, they are almost similar.

    Inked Earbuds

There are no instructions and of course people give the very obvious answer - plug them in and push play. Well DUH -- but I have an Ipod shuffle how do you use the adjuster to get the volumn to go up and down and how do you change the track. The reason I bought them is because it said they did all that but there are no instructions.

    Answer:
Man, if your read that they had volume control, you bought the wrong 'buds. Ink'd don't have that feature. BUT! The track control and mic are both on the little thing on the wire. To use the track control:
    One press= Pause/Play
    Two Presses= Next song/Fast forward(If held)
    Three presses= Previous song/Rewind(If held)

    Large ear tips available?

When I bought my first package of ink'd earbuds, it came with 3 pairs of eartips. I notice that now there are only 2 pairs of eartips in each package. I bought a package recently that only had the 2 pairs of eartips; the largest pair is the one that is no longer included. Unfortunately, the large ones are the ones I need.

Any way I can buy a package that has 3 pairs of eartips? If not, can I specify that I want the large pair of eartips when I buy the earbuds? Finally, can I buy the large eartips separately?

    Microphone issue

Overall big fan of Skullcandy, my 3rd unique product. I bought these to replace some clunky generic over the head microphone for use when Skyping with family when I'm deployed.

The Mic doesnt work at all on my computer (compared to iPhone mic earbuds which do), but works fine in mobile.

Is there a reason it does this? Or is my pair just junk?

It also has random clicking like the inner metals are contracting.

The Ink'd (Mic'd) have a Mic1, meaning it is able to do the following...
    -1 Click: Play/Pause tracks OR Send/End Calls
-2 Clicks: Skip Forward a track
-3 Clicks: Repeat Song/Go Back To Previous Song.

The earphones that you see labeled with Mic3 are the ones that the have all the features of Mic1 PLUS Volume Control.

    Answer:
The mic is a passive system. You're not doing anything by pressing the button other than attempting to pause or play your music. If you're hooked up to an iPod, bring up an app that uses the mic, and it will automatically function. Think of it as an extension of your device, rather than a separate unit.

There are no instructions and of course people give the very obvious answer - plug them in and push play. Well DUH -- but I have an Ipod shuffle how do you use the adjuster to get the volumn to go up and down and how do you change the track. The reason I bought them is because it said they did all that but there are no instructions.

Man, if your read that they had volume control, you bought the wrong 'buds. Ink'd don't have that feature. BUT! The track control and mic are both on the little thing on the wire. To use the track control:
    One press= Pause/Play
    Two Presses= Next song/Fast forward(If held)
    Three presses= Previous song/Rewind(If held)
