    Best I've EVER had

    May 5th, 2012

    by Kaylie

I have two dogs...not very old and they still have puppy habits such as chewing up things. So that basically tells you I've what feels like thousands of ear buds. After my last pair that was chewed, I did some research and found Skullcandy. I had a debate with myself weather it was worth it or not because of my dogs so I decided to by a fairly cheap and easy replaceable pair. I wound up buying these and let me just say they are phenomenal. I absolutely LOVE them. Everything about them is 100% satisfying the value definitively, the quality of course, and the comfort, I hardly feel them. My favorite thing about them is the bass. I absolutely love a good dose of bass. To my surprise even, I STILL have them. I guess putting them in my top drawer turned out to be a good idea...lol! So anyway, thanks a million Skullcandy!

I like using wired headsets instead of bluetooth for my cell phone, because I don't like the idea of my brain getting irradiated, and I also use my cell phone as my music player when I exercise. All of the other headphones I would buy would fall apart in my purse, or I'd yank them and....well..you know. These headphones are not only indestructible, but give me GREAT sound! Admittedly, however, there's one that gives me a BIT more bass, but I didn't buy that kind, so technically I shouldn't have docked the review by one star. But I'm addicted to bass. P.S. I'm a teacher, and all of my students are enviously eyeing my headphones. They're like, "Are those skullcandies?" Teacher-tested, student-approved.

    March 20th, 2012

    by Darrin

I personally wanted to try these headphones to satisfy my goals of extreme bass, but when I plugged it in, the bass was minimal! I had a pair of the ink'd and dub before, both were too much on the heights for me, but the bass was great. I expected a bigger, better boom from smokin buds, but they lack performance in that department. If you're looking for sound clarity, this is a good option, but for bass hungry people...... Look somewhere else.

I'm a huge fan of Skullcandy, but these aren't their best. Like someone else said, they just stopped working for me, after moderate use over a span of about 5 months. I didn't mistreat them or anything; they just stopped working. BUT....if you're the type of person who changes headphones after a couple of months anyway (I know some people who do), then these might be your fit. :)

I bought these hoping they would sound and feel as cool as they look. Unfortunately thats not the case. I found the small ear cushion too small and the headphones would slide out regardless of which cushion was in place. When I held the earphones in place they sounded fantastic. But again, had to be held. Also, they control button doesn't work on my Android phone except to pause it. Not helpful at all. Overall I found these to be of no use and no better in fit or comfort than the cheap ones included with the phone. Maybe I need your input for other selections....

It sounds pretty nice and it's comfortable but definitely not recommended for those who hate noise cancelling. I've had these for about 6 months. Great Bud's for Casual, Comfortable Wear.

    December 15th, 2011

    by

I purchased a pair of these buds around August of this year and I have been using them about every day since. I really like how they feel and the performance is nice for when I'm not using my larger Headphones. The only problem is that the connection in the volume adjustment sort of comes out a little and I have to push it back in. However, I do put these buds under a lot of abuse so that's reasonable. I recommenced these buds to anyone who is looking to upgrade from their old iPod Earbuds or something of the like.

Answer:
These Smokin' Buds with Mic1 can Play and pause, even skip tracks forward and backward, but not increase/decrease volume. Look for Skullcandy products with a Mic3 label. Mic3 does everything Mic1 does, but the only difference is that Mic3 has that Volume control.

Good fit?

How comfortable are these after long hours? Because I'm pretty much always listening to my iPod or Android and I want to know if I can wear these for consecutive hours straight without them getting as uncomfortable as others after time.
Another question:Do these fit ears well? I dont want them always falling out when I move my head or walk.

Answers

Answer:
On the Smokin' Buds, the smallest earphone cover is practically the size of the actual bud, which is pretty small. You say they keep falling out; I know what you mean, it happened to me too. However, that has less to do with the size of the earbud cover and more to do with the weight. These earbuds are some of the heaviest I have ever purchased in my entire life. So it's probably a good idea not to get this specific model again. There are many other models that are lighter and have just as good sound quality (if not better.) Hoped this helped and sorry about your bad experience with these buds.

Answer:
Most smartphones with a 3.5mm jack should have limited to full functionality with Mic1. So if it has a little button in the cord, it should be able to work. Make sure your phone is up-to-date with the latest software. It will probably work a lot better.

Answer:
None of the 2011 Somkin' Buds models in the online Skullcandy catalog have the Nylon Braided cord. You may be able to find some at other sites. As it is, most of the 2011 models have the Flat TPE cord, which is extremely resistant to tangling.

** Smokin Buds are a MIC 1 product and does not have volume control features like MIC 3 products.

What is the little white piece where it goes from 1 wire to 2 wires? Just the splitter and to adjust the length of the 2 wires together for fit and less tangling?

These Smokin' Buds with Mic1 can Play and pause, even skip tracks forward and backward, but not increase/decrease volume. Look for Skullcandy products with a Mic3 label. Mic3 does everything Mic1 does, but the only difference is that Mic3 has that Volume control.

Most smartphones with a 3.5mm jack should have limited to full functionality with Mic1. So if it has a little button in the cord, it should be able to work. Make sure your phone is up-to-date with the latest software. It will probably work a lot better.

None of the 2011 Somkin' Buds models in the online Skullcandy catalog have the Nylon Braided cord. You may be able to find some at other sites. As it is, most of the 2011 models have the Flat TPE cord, which is extremely resistant to tangling.

Smokin Buds Features

Where is the mic located?

Where is the volume adjustment located on the smokin Buds like the I Phones -/+ Volume?

What is the little white piece where it goes from1 wire to 2 wires? Just the splitter and to adjust the length of the 2 wires together for fit and less tangling?

Where are these features for the Smokin Buds?
Click feature like with my I Phone headset that can be used while listening to my playlist in-between the+/- volume controller button:

Pause, 1 click pause then 1 click play same where you left off?

2 clicks rewind to the beginning of the song you are listening to?

** The MIC is the module located on the cable, close to the earbud itself.

** Smokin Buds are a MIC 1 product and does not have volume control features like MIC 3 products.

What is the little white piece where it goes from 1 wire to 2 wires? Just the splitter and to adjust the length of the 2 wires together for fit and less tangling?

** Yes, that is the splitter of the cable from one to two wires.

** Smokin Buds with MIC1 can take/make calls, play/pause music, and features music track control:

While music is playing:

Do these headphones have good bass? Good durability?

I"m not sure whether these have enhanced bass, and that would be a good feature for me. My brother had a cheap pair of Skullcandy earbuds and they broke very fast.

Answer:
no and that would be great. I know the cost of this function in headphones is still high. If you guys could lower the cost, I'm sure you would see a spike in sales. Gotta run promo's so everyone would know what's good. lol
