Skullcandy Presents: The Week in Music 5.3 RSS

Elena Tonra first punched our hearts with her EP The Wild Youth. And now, after signing with 4AD the whispy songstress along with guitarist Igor Haefeli, and drummer Remi Aguilella have released their debut record, If You Leave. With vocal strengths comparable to Florence & The Machine and more enchantment than Feist we can’t believe Daughter hasn’t already blown up on the scene…

Band Of The Week: Palma Violets RSS

UK-based garage-dance band, Palma Violets have already made their stake in the music scene across the pond. Just a year after surfacing into the music world they already have NME’s number 1 track of 2012 and sparked a bidding war among record executives (eventually ending up at indie label Rough Trade.) In spite of all that, they’re still introducing themselves to a US fan-base. Their first album, 180 was just released at the end of February, and it’s not like they’ve been headlining any festivals or anything (though they did play Coachella.) Skullcandy Presents Week In Music 4.26 RSS

The Dogg, uh we mean Lion has released his first reggae album Reincarnated after his much hyped creative and life transition to Rastafarian. Inspired by his “spiritual journey” in Jamaica, this new sound of Snoop’s is all about getting happy. Tired of rapping, Snoop ditches his traditional gangsta mantra and more or less sings on Reincarnated…

Band Of The Week: FLUME RSS

Ok. So we know solo artist Flume is not technically a band, but whatever. Labels aside he’s still undoubtedly a musical force. If you didn’t catch us talking about him in one of our last Week In Music posts, then listen up. Harley Strenten is a 21 year old DJ, who calls Australia home, and first got his taste for producing at the ripe age of 13. One fateful day, Harley scored a music production program inside a cereal box and so began his discovery of all things synthetic. From there he mastered the art of analogue hardware and electro beat creation on the home computer in his parents basement. We’re not even joking. That is a true story…
