UK-based garage-dance band, Palma Violets have already made their stake in the music scene across the pond. Just a year after surfacing into the music world they already have NME’s number 1 track of 2012 and sparked a bidding war among record executives (eventually ending up at indie label Rough Trade.) In spite of all that, they’re still introducing themselves to a US fan-base. Their first album, 180 was just released at the end of February, and it’s not like they’ve been headlining any festivals or anything (though they did play Coachella.) That said, this is a band worth checking out. Their music is fun
With a gnarley course design filled with tight turns and dirt dry from the spring heat the Skullcandy Moto crew still owned this past weekend’s SX event. Dungey crushed his starts in Salt Lake City winning his heat race as well as taking the hole shot and charged in the main event placing 3rd for the weekend. The tight track at Rice Eccles Stadium didn’t make passing easy but homie still managed to dominate the dirt. Broc Tickle barely missed the podium taking 4th in his heat race showing his speed to run up front, while…
Joining the efforts of the majority of Nashville’s radio stations, and Toby Keith’s tribute at Stagecoach this past weekend, today we’re honoring the legacy of George Jones. Simply put, referring to George as legend doesn’t even do him justice, but until we coin another term, legend will have to do. Aside from being one of the most down to earth athletes we know, Denver Nuggets team captain and shooting guard, Andre Iguodala has mad skills. In the last three years alone he’s been named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team, joined LeBron James as the only players to average at least 12.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 2011-12, and the only players to average at least 14.0 points, 6.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds in 2010-11. Andre’s also got 67 double-doubles for his career, including eight triple-doubles…
Don’t know how to say !!!? Don’t fret, apparently you can pronounce it by repeating any three monosyllabic sound three times. So it could be Ba Ba Ba, Uh Uh Uh, Pow Pow Pow… you get the idea. Chk Chik Chick is what the band uses for their website and Facebook, so we’ll roll with that. Their name stems from the subtitles of the film, The Gods Must Be Crazy (which, if you haven’t seen it, you should really stream.) This whole thing is not only cause for lots of confusion about the band, but makes it nearly impossible to Google them…
