Skullcandy is stoked to announce that Brazil National Team captain Thiago Silva has partnered with us to become the company's first football brand ambassador. The 28-year-old defender, who recently won the French Ligue 1 championship with Paris Saint-Germain and led Brazil to its third consecutive FIFA Confederations Cup title, is the latest addition to our family. He joins a star-studded line-up that already includes NBA players Kevin Durant, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, Derrick Rose, Andre Iguodala and the NFL's Stevie Johnson.
Thiago Silva is one of the premier defenders in world football today. Nicknamed “o Monstro” (the Monster), he first broke onto the scene in helping hometown club Fluminense reach the 2008 Copa Libertadores final. A year later he signed for Italian giants AC Milan, and quickly established himself as one of the most consistent and commanding centre-backs of his generation. He won a “Scudetto” (League Championship) and Italian Supercup during three seasons with the “rossoneri” (red and blacks), before free-spending French club Paris Saint-Germain made him an offer he couldn't refuse in the summer of 2012. His leadership is unquestioned, testament to that is his standing as team captain at both club and international level. After leading Brasil to the Confederations Cup title last June, Thiago has his sights firmly set on next year’s World Cup on home soil.
