Skullcandy family member, and motocross champ Ryan Dungey is not only a hell of a rider but one good dude as well. This past weekend we teamed up with Ryan, Target, and Fox to host the second MN Major, a one day 100K cycling tour along the St. Croix and Mississippi rivers with all proceeds and registration fee’s being donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The weekend began on Saturday with Ryan returning to his hometown track in the Spring Creek National in Millville, MN. Dungey started out his race strong but due to mechanical problems finished 5th that race. Fueled by the excitement of the tens of thousands of MN fans in attendance cheering him on, Ryan easily secured a victory in the second Moto and went on to finish the day with a 3rd place overall. His podium finish helped him secure key points in the overall standing on the season.
The following day, Ryan showed his love for MN with the Minnesota Major. This year's racers were officially started by a five-year-old patient of St. Jude that was diagnosed with leukemia and thanks to her treatment by the hospital her cancer is now in full remission. After starting the race she climbed on her own bike and completed the 1-mile kid's race all on her own. In total, the participants donated $54,000 and Ryan decided to match the first $50,000. Overall $104,000 was donated directly to St. Jude.
“It's an honor to be part of the Skullcandy Team and Family. Thanks for the support and help with the MN Major. I'm looking forward to many great things ahead.” - Ryan Dungey
It was an incredible event to be part of and really made us feel humbled and honored to associate with such a generous and philanthropic athlete. This event is something we hope to continue supporting for years to come. Please see the attached photos from this wonderful day and learn more about the event at mnmajor.com.
