Skullcandy Presents: Week In Music 7.5.13

Freshies: Pretty Lights A Color Map of the Sun

Colorado-based musician, Derek Vincent Smith aka Pretty Lights calls his latest release, A Color Map of the Sun a “multi-medium map of my mind and self”.  Packed with vintage samples, moody tempos, and upbeat hard-hitting beats this record is everything you’d expect from the DJ. Our favorite tracks off the new album are “So Bright” and “Yellowbird”.

Watch Out For: On and On

Nate Eisland, Ryne Estwing, and Alissa Ricci are the uber talented trio that makes up the indie rock group, On and On. Formers members of the successful quintet, Scattered Trees the three took their break up from the band as an opportunity to create a new sound with their leftover studio time. The result? On and On’s debut album, Give In. Filled with musky vocals, steady guitar strums, and mixes of bells and tambourines the band is pure goodness. We recommend “Every Song” and “Ghosts” for your first listens.

Currently Obsessed With: Baby Monster “City of Lovers”

‘80s synth meets the Talking Heads in Baby Monster’s track, “City of Lovers” we’re tapping toes and shaking booties to this feel good track for summer. Actually, we’re dancing to everything these guys produce, techno mixed with nostalgia this duo knows how to bring back the memories with their sound.
