Skullcandy Presents: Week In Music 6.28.13

Freshies: Avicii “Wake Me Up”

At 23 Tim Bergling, better known to the EDM world as Avicii has already reinvented himself. With his first single “Wake Me UP” off his upcoming debut album TRUE EDM goes country. The track is a new side of the DJ opening with twangy-guitar strums to soon be followed by the soulful vocals of Aloee Black. The song escalates as Avicii skillfully sneaks in the beat and drops it perfectly. The entry of live instruments into his music is a new step for the Swedish DJ’s new sound as well as working with non-Dj’s such as Nile Rodgers, Joakim Berg, and Audra Mae on his upcoming record.  Although a different direction of sound, the track is still made to be danced to and we’ve got it on repeat.

Currently Obsessed With: Arctic Monkey’s “Do I Wanna Know?”

New from their upcoming record, The Arctic Monkey’s are back with their latest release “Do I Wanna Know?” Heavy and steady beats picked up guitar riffs and Alex Turner’s bluesy voice reminds us of why we love this Brit band.

Watch Out For: Wild Cat! Wild Cat!

The synthy-pop sound from LA – based trio Wild Cat! Wild Cat! made us place these guys in the same category as bands like MGMT, and The One AM Radio. We’re stoked on singles, “Mr. Quiche” and “Please and Thank You”. Listen below and throw them into your summer playlists.
