Skullcandy Presents: The Week In Music 5.31

Skullcandy Presents: The Week In Music 5.31

When we heard Lorde’s voice and then heard her age, an immediate holy sh*t moment happened. The 16-year-old singer-songwriter from New Zealand is far beyond her years in terms of talent and sound. Her single, “Royals” flows about a fantasy lifestyle accompanied with a mellow tempo that makes listening to it a dream experience in its own. We are stoked on seeing such young talent produce music made for an audience outside the typical teeny-bopper crowd that most artists that age relate to. Check out Lorde’s newly released EP below and watch out for this chick to blow up the music world.

Currently Obsessed With: Unknown Mortal Orchestra

Thank God Ruban Nielson didn’t pursue a day job after disbanding the Mint Chicks or we may never have gotten to experience the glory that is, Unknown Mortal Orchestra. This indie rock-pop star seduces listeners on his second album II with catchy melodies and sharp lyrics creating an awesome soundtrack for summer evenings chillin’ on the porch. We recommend, “So Good At Being In Trouble” for your first listen.

Freshies: Wale “LoveHate Thing”

Skullcandy family member, Wale just dropped his new single, LoveHate Thing off his upcoming album, The Gifted slated to drop June 25th. This soulful new track ft Sam Dew is an instant head-bopper loaded with classic melodies and gentle background vocals creating more of a love than hate vibe. Listen below:
