Skullcandy Presents Week In Music 4.26

Freshies: Reincarnated By Snoop Lion.

Snoop-lion-reincarnated

The Dogg, uh we mean Lion has released his first reggae album Reincarnated after his much hyped creative and life transition to Rastafarian. Inspired by his “spiritual journey” in Jamaica, this new sound of Snoop’s is all about getting happy. Tired of rapping, Snoop ditches his traditional gangsta mantra and more or less sings on Reincarnated. With collabs on every track but one including appearances from various artists such as Miley Cyrus, Akon, and Chris Brown the album is overall a mainstream reggae-pop record with Snoop’s usual ten million references to his favorite herbal delight. For reggae heads we recommend tracks, “Rebel Way” and “Tired of Running”

Currently Obsessed With: Electric Guest

We know, we know, Asa Taccone aka Electric Guest has busted out on the scene this year. We caught this shorty on tour back in October and can vouch that he is as good live as he is on his debut record “Mondo”. With performance and vocal traits reminiscent of MJ we’ve been bringing this record back around the office in time for summer to kick off.

Watch Out For: The Neighbourhood

The-neighbourhood-i-love-you

LA- Formed Quintet is new on the indie-pop scene. Their debut album “I Love You” has lead singer Jesse Rutherford bringing beautifully boyish melodies to the bands mellow and at times, moody beats. “Sweater Weather” is one of our favorite tracks off this record.

Video of the Week: Daft Punk | Random Access Memories | The Collaborators: Panda Bear

Episode 5 is out for Daft Punk’s mini-series about their next album release for Random Access Memories. The episode highlights how artist Panda Bear from Animal Collective was finally able to touch base with the robots and make sweet sweet music in Paris after multiple attempts with try and remix with the duo. With the three days to create a track and the artistic direction “To do something good” Panda Bear talks about how his partnership Daft came together at the final hour.
