Skullcandy Presents: The Week In Music 3.22

Watch Out For: Kat Dahlia

Skullcandy week in music kat dahlia
Cuban-American singer/songwriter Kat Dahlia is a fresh face on the music scene. Twenty one years young, this chick brings a uniquely aggressive flow with her jam, “Gangsta.” She takes Weezy’s signature lyrics from “Stuntin Like My Daddy,” in her latest single and mixes in piano melodies with her throaty and confident sound. Watch out for her album release later this year as she claims her stake as an artist on the rise.

Freshies: Lana Del Rey- Burning Desire

The femme fatal is back with her latest single “Burning Desire”. If you’re a fan of Lana’s already then you’ll dig this. The track doesn’t differ from what you’ve already heard on Born To Die but at least its something new from the artist. We’re hoping her upcoming album will incorporate more sounds similar to “Diet Mountain Dew” or introduce a new side of this cinematic songstress.

Currently Obsessed with: Lady Danville – Kids

The LA Based indie pop band, Lady Danville covers MGMT’s “Kids” and slows it down.  It’s a bit Death-Cab-For-Cutie-esque taking out the blaring dance beats, but still manages to keep the anthem behind what makes the original so memorable.

Video of the week: Justin Timberlake – Mirrors
It been 7 years since releasing his last album. It’s no secret that JT is coming back in full effect. Collaborating with Jay-Z, performing on Fallon and hosting SNL, homeboy has been a promotional roller coaster this year reminding everyone of his skills. His latest music video, “Mirrors” is an 8 minute mini-love saga, filled with references to his personal relationships with his loved ones while still featuring a little bit of everything else you’d expect from a new and improved Justin. Maturing in his sound, style and performance, this video further showcases Justin as a mega-star.
