The park crew at Bear Mountain brought the heat once again for this past weekend’s TransAm stop. The day kicked off with some carnage but that quickly transitioned into hammers as the riders got a feel for the course. Luckily, the talent pool at Bear Mountain runs deep; because competitors showed up Saturday morning to see one of the gnarliest courses the tour has seen to date. When the dust settled, it was Veroniqi Hasson bringing home the win for the gals. Jon McDonald took the Guys division and Matt Guntert was the Zumiez Best Trick winner. Winners took home a slurry of prizes including custom Skullcandy TransAm Cassette and Aviator headphones, and will be flown out to the finals this week at Park City. Come ride with us on March 16th and watch the tour’s best competitors throw it down in one final battle to be dubbed the 2013 TransAM Tour Winners.
Bear Mountain built a huge park with large features that had a lot of consequence.
David Baird with a quick nosepress on the Muscle Milk double bar closeout rail.
“Jus Liv’n” is a totally appropriate response to the question, “Why do you spend your life on the couch?”
An unknown rider slides his front lip down one of the many jib options Bear Mountain had provided.
The double back came out early in the comp. Here we have Brandan Monahan demonstrating his version of the trick.
Jon McDonald was one of the only riders to get atop the Skullcandy Boom Box. He was quite the crowd pleaser and took home first place for the men.
Not a lot of people would step to the Muscle Milk feature. Oliver Dixon was not scared and took the feature apart.
Too many hard crashes to count.
Someone must have hired a designer. There is a city street lamp that was purely in the comp just for the helluvit.
Women’s 2nd place winner Sisi Cavretti might be better at snowboarding than you.
The Giro feature at the top of the course was a fun, easy rig to hit before heading down to the larger jibs.
The Coal headwear feature did not get a lot of love, but Dina Treland was able to stomp this backside 50-50 thru the kink.
The closeout did what it was supposed to do. It closed people out. Chip Snyder didn’t get caught.
Matt Guntert got Buck Wild on the Ride Snowboard jump and landed himself “Best Trick.”
Simon Houlind won the Muscle Milk award for his 450 off one of the features.
