A direct descendent of our premium Aviator headphone, the Navigator brings style and Supreme Sound to an on-ear headphone design. Conceived and brought to life in Park City, Utah, Skullcandy is proud to call the Navigator the newest member of a growing premium Skullcandy lineup.
With foundations laid from the Aviator over-ear headphone, the Navigator was an opportunity – an opportunity to refine supremacy. As a second-generation sibling, the Navigator project began in the refinement phase allowing much more time for testing and fine-tuning. The goal: A simple design with less parts, maximum comfort, and supreme audio performance. We call it the perfect balance of design and performance. We think you will too…
Our product team is obsessed with the idea of perfection. For Navigator, they saw an opportunity to set the bar high. To pursue perfection. So they took matters into their own capable hands.
Enter REX40™. Named after our very own acoustical engineer Rex Price, the REX40™ driver is custom designed and built by Skullcandy. The goal was a smooth frequency response curve typically only found in headphones that cost 5 times as much. To do this, Rex and the team spent countless hours in our sound lab tweaking and tuning the new driver. They drilled holes for attacking bass response and adjusted the diaphragm for crisp, clean highs. While most of you were in dreamland, Rex was up nights wearing Navigators cycling through song after song, taking notes on the quality and consistency of the driver’s sound. Finally, we had something great. When put up against some of the most respected headphones in the industry, the REX40™ tuned for Navigator was a shining star producing a distortion free frequency curve smoother than a baby’s bottom.
Think Attacking Bass, Natural Vocals, and Precision Highs.
You may not have access to all the acoustic testing equipment we do, but we’re confident a listen will confirm the results.
The best sounding headphones in the world won't appeal to anyone if they're not comfortable to wear. That's why we made the Navigator earpads with memory foam and a soft, synthetic leather. In addition to comfort, the memory foam earpads create a seal that allows for maximum passive noise isolation as well as prevents sound leakage. Each earpad also features a mesh cutout of the Skullcandy Skull logo. How appropriate – Supreme Sound enters your skull through our Skull.
When it comes to design and functionality, Josh Poulsen and our product engineering team thought of everything. A design on paper may look elegant but true beauty comes from many different iterations created throughout months and months of testing before a final design is fit to wear the Skullcandy Supreme Sound name. The headband, made of high strength spring steel, was designed to withstand the test of time while providing a perfect clamping pressure for hours of listening comfort. The earcups sit on metal tracks for durable, adjustable sizing. Hinges are seeded in metal housing and allow for a compact, foldable, travel-ready option. Pick up a pair – you can feel the quality.
The cable itself, which is removable, is flat to eliminate those nasty tangles you get when pulling your headphones out of the bag you threw them in. It also features a redesigned Mic3 with better tactile feedback when locating and pushing the buttons. Mic3 is good for convenient in-line play/pause, track/volume control, call answer/end, and hands free talking.
*Mic3 functionality designed for Apple devices. Audio function is compatible with all MP3 and audio playback devices using a standard 3.5mm jack.
The finest details didn’t go unnoticed. The removable cable has a standard 3.5mm connection for pairing with your audio player. The opposite end that connects to the left earcup has a 90°, 2.5mm jack designed for durability and compact styling.
After thousands of testing hours and hundreds of design iterations, we've got something special. Design, beauty, and Supreme Sound performance priced at $100. Available in 4 colors.
