There are few things better than a day spent shredding with friends, but we like to think riding with music is close to the top of that list. We met up with team riders Aaron Biittner, Zak Hale, and Justin Bennee for a day at Brighton Ski Resort testing out Skullcandy’s best new snow accessory this season, the Cassette. A headphone designed specifically for the beanie-wearing, hoodie-draped, music-jamming rider. Check out how these boys plug in and get down on the mountain with a day demo-ing one of our favorite products.

The Cassette is one of our newest designs from Skullcandy’s supreme sound brand evolution. Stemming from its predecessor, the Homebrew (set of speakers and a control cable), the Cassette is like Reeses peanut butter cups… chocolate and peanut butter come together to create greatness… it cannot exist without both ingredients.

Its creation began with the concept of a washable audio beanie to wear riding, meaning it needed removable speakers. Audio beanies are often stitched-in and have fixed cables which make them pretty limited products. It wasn’t long before our product team realized they needed to design the speaker to fit into a headband, add a no slip ear pads, and have the option of a purpose built low-profile snow headphone too. Their focus is to give it maximum functionality for active use with a no slip silicon earpad that will easily convert to a cushy, padded on-ear headphone for jamming in comfort. Quick change from non-slip to padded earpad and wa-la! It becomes a comfortable street fashion headphone.

Ideal for snowboarders, skiers, skaters, bmx’ers, beach goers, travelers, and audiophiles alike, Skullcandy now has modular configurations for hoodies and helmets too. Each setup has its own unique cable system and media controller. With cassette, you can pop your speakers in a moto helmet, cruise down to the beach, then pop them in the cool headband you had stowed in your pocket and take your music with you.

Built around removable speakers and a collapsible band, the Cassette is essentially where modular adaptability meets Supreme Sound. All packed in a low-profile aesthetic, the Cassette is big performance, less bulk.
