Today Skullcandy announced the addition of Ryan Dungey, a 3-time Supercross and Motocross of Nations Champion and 3-time AMA Motocross Champion. At only 23 Ryan has won every title in the sport of motocross. In 2009 he made waves on the motocross scene winning both the Lites Supercross Championship and the 250 Motocross Championship- and that was just the beginning. In 2010 Ryan became the second motocross rider in the history of the sport to win the 450 Supercross Championship and the 450 Motocross Championship in his rookie season. He then went on to lead the USA to victory in the Motocross Des Nations that same year.
“I try to pair myself with the best brands in the business to help me achieve my goals and keep pushing forward. My sponsors are the very best at what they do, which is why I’m excited to be a part of the Skullcandy Family. It’s one of the best lifestyle audio brands out there,” Dungey said. Inspired by the challenge of constantly improving Ryan is also heavily motivated by music, check out our reel of Ryan training in his Fix buds, and hanging in his Navigators.
Ryan’s success continued in 2011. He once again lead the USA to victory at the Motocross Des Nations and with victories on both tours he finished the season 3rd in Supercross and 2nd in Motocross. In 2012 Dungey made a pivotal decision to rejoin his longtime mentor Roger DeCoster at the Red Bull/KTM Factory Team. In just the second race of the 2012 Supercross season Dungey delivered KTM its first ever, Supercross victory.
All of Dungey’s tremendous success is not without a lot of hard work and encouragement from a family of racers. His dad, Troy, was an amateur racer and his siblings, Jade and Blake, were amateur competitors as well. They all travel with Ryan ensuring he is well supported during his mission to have continued success in motocross.
Dungey’s current sponsors include KTM, Red Bull, Fox, Nike, Oakley, and Target, which is one of Skullcandy’s largest retailers. Skullcandy and Target will be working together to offer Dungey’s fans and followers unique opportunities to purchase Skullcandy products at Target throughout the 2013 season. More details will be announced on this program in early 2013.
“Ryan joins an elite family of athletes and artists who, like the Skullcandy brand, are committed to performing at the highest level,” said Nate Morley, VP of Marketing, Skullcandy. “He's one of the best riders in the world, and he's a great fit for our brand. We're thrilled to welcome Ryan to the Skullcandy family.”
