We, at Skullcandy, have always believed that music plays a part in the human experience and becomes the soundtrack to our lives. Last week, we proudly donated 100 pairs of our Lowrider headphones to support the mission of the Canadian charitable foundation, Music Heals. Music Heals is a non-profit organization out of B.C. that has increased awareness for the healing powers of music, and that raises money for music therapy and related services across Canada. Our donation will serve the Music Heals program called iPod Pharmacy, where Skullcandy headphones will be paired with iPods and MP3 players, and given to music therapists to use with their patients.
Music therapy is a form of complimentary medicine that uses music in a skilled manner by trained therapists. These programs are designed to help patients overcome their physical, emotional, intellectual and social challenges. It's applied in schools and rehabilitation centers, and in hospitals and nursing homes to lower stress levels and ease pain. Seems to us, everyone could use a little music therapy.
