There is probably no better place to be than Hawaii in November. So say the lucky NCAA teams competing in the championship round of the Maui Invitational. Skullcandy jumped at the chance to be a sponsor of the 2012 tournament, gifting custom Aviators to all the competing athletes in their team colors and with engraved numbers. Some notable universities competing this year are North Carolina, Butler and Illinois. Plus, our guy Kevin Durant's alma mater, Texas, and host school, Chaminade, go at it tonight!
The highlight of the weekend was the Players Party gaming tournament, hosted by EA Sports. Each team was repped by one player, presumably their best gamer, decked out in Skullcandy's new PLYR2 gaming headset. In the final head-to-head, it was Vander Blue of Marquette vs. Sam McLaurin of Illinois. Congrats to Sam, 2012 Maui Invitational Video Game Champ.
You'll catch us at the Lahaina Civic Center for the next three days, checking out some early-season hoops. Watch the tournament live, yourself, on the ESPN Networks. We wouldn't be surprised to see some of these teams back at it in March.
Check this tight shot of our new PLYR2 gaming headset. Game on.
