Freestyle.ch is the largest and most important freestyle sport event in Europe. Late in September, the star riders from the freestyle scene gathered at Landiwiese in Zurich to compete for the titles of “freestyle.champ” and “crossover.champ”. Exciting contests and an extensive meet and greet session for the entire international freestyle community came together to mark the start of the season.
This year, there were two firsts for the event. The MTB Dirt Jump was added as the newest contest discipline. And for the first time ever, freestyle.ch organizers invited four female riders to join the Crossover Section, an event judged and awarded by the crowd! Plus, skateboarding was covered by a very cool GAME OF SKATE in which visitors battled the pros.
We were the official music sponsor with the Skullcandy branded DJ battle stations on the main stage and in the party tents. DJ Kid Sid not only spun records, but also gave the crowd a turn at scratching, and instructed them on how to use the turntables. The Skullcandy chill out zone was right by the entrance, greeting 35,000+ people over the weekend and introducing the crowd to our newest creation, custom Skullcandy Edit Aviators.
Even though none of our riders podiumed this year, each had a strong performance. Snow team member, Eero Ettala, threw out a new trick during the big air semi-finals (switch double back flip with a late bs 180 – pretty nuts). Ski team member, Tom Wallisch, advanced to the finals of his event, the only one of our riders to do so.
Check out the official headphones of the event, Skullcandy x Freestyle.ch limited edition Cassette and Uprock, on sale at the event and given out to all the riders.
