Here’s a big shout out to Skullcandy’s Kyrie Irving, who was named 2011-12 NBA Rookie of the Year! Irving’s stats speak to the quality of his play (18.5 points per game, 5.4 assists per game and 40% 3-point shooting) but the first year pro’s leadership and coolness on the court speak to the quality of his character. The Cleveland Cavaliers did well in selecting Irving first overall in the 2011 NBA Draft, only the fourth #1 pick to become rookie of the year in the past 10 years.
With this, the final post-season award by the league, that’s two for our crew. Kyrie joins fellow Skullcandy team member, James Harden, who won the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year Award.
