Big Bear Mountain Resort, Big Bear Lakes, CA
War of Rails went off under the beautiful California sky at Big Bear this weekend, with Skullcandy team rider Tom Wallisch dominating yet again. Friday was an open qualifier for the main event on Saturday, awarding only one person from the qualifier to advance to the semi-finals with the top three. Saturday’s semi-final consisted of two half-hour heats — fifteen riders per heat. The top fifteen riders overall would advance and meet in the finals.
Wallisch destroyed the War of Rails set up. He consistently aced his runs through the course, which took riders from an up-rail to a giant wall ride, gapping the down flat to a down-rail, then finally charging in to another up-rail. Simply put, Mr. Wallisch was like a Jedi knight using the force, and he owned time and space. It was like something out of Hot Tub Time Machine. Epic beats were supplied by DJ Slipmat all weekend and featured artist, White Panda, brought this event to whole other level and closed out the show after awards.Check out the video recap below.
“We don’t have a ton of these [events] in our sport”, said Wallisch before taking first place. “I grew up doing rail jam, so it’s awesome to be able to do a big prize purse event.”
Now we can add a War of Rails to the list of wins Tom has racked up this season. Others include X Games Gold, Dew Tour Gold for Slope (twice), and the overall Dew Cup. Lets wish Tom good luck and safe travels down to Mammoth for the US Grand Prix and then off to Euro X Games. Keep it up Tom, you’re on fire!
