The Grenade Games at Bear Mountain, Ca. are the closest thing to a live grenade that you will ever see.
Hundreds of people pack the venue like powder in a keg to create an explosive situation. Good snow, perfect weather, and a party atmosphere create the pressure. And performances by Skullcandy DJ’s and The Game pull the pin and set the whole damn thing off.
Danny Kass and the Dingo have set up a system of events at Bear Mountain that are loosely covered under the Grenade Games title. All of the events are loosely based on other snowboard competitions, but theirs add
the element of fun and the turning of a blind eye to things like cheating or doing your run with a beer in hand. Some of the favorites of day 1 were the Chinese Downhill and the Quarterpipe Masters. During the Chinese Downhill, local kids were allowed to stand on the side of the mogul course and throw snowballs as contestants tried to finish first and claim their spot on the podium. A local lift attendant took the prize on this one after hurdling a 5-rider pile up at the base.
Not to be outdone on the snow, The Game took the stage as the sun went down and the wind and snow picked up. The new Skullcandy sound system exploded with the beats and the crowd reacted like they were in a war zone, jumping, shouting, and cheering for the mayhem as The Game brought both hits and deep tracks to all those who had braved the evening waiting for his set. And this was just Day 1 of a two-day madness marathon!
