EXPN Holiday Kits: Skullcandy is for Ski-Ballers

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

If you were born to be a baller and you happen to ski, you might be a ski-baller. If so, take note: EXPN’s gift guide has made life easy for the person who drew your name for presents this year. All you need to do is put the word out that you are, in fact, a ski-baller. Then casually forward the lucky giver the web link to EXPN.com’s Ski-Baller Holiday Kit, and hint that you only have one thing on your wish list: The entire Ski-Baller kit.

In the sad case that the person who drew your name doesn’t love you enough to spring for the whole top-to-bottom ballin’ ensemble, do the right thing and simplify your request to just the one coolest item in the kit: The Skullcandy GI model headphones in Desert Camo.

Either way, we recommend you not reveal your top secret plan to eBay everything but the headphones.

DJ A-Trak is one fresh kemosabe

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

dj_atrak.jpg

When DJ A-Trak is not touring the globe as Kanye West’s DJ, opening for U2 in a soccer stadium, winning the uber-prestigious DMC World DJ Championships at age 15 (he’s mid-20s now), relaxing with his fellow DJ and producer girlfriend Kid Sister, blowing up some of the illest parties in the world, catching a live set by his brother’s band Chromeo, or recording some of the most addictive mixtapes ever, he might slow down long enough to be photographed for the cover of the latest BPM magazine. We posted this pic of A-Trak wearing white Skullcandy TI model headphones because (1) he looks so fresh, and (2) so we can holla at A-Track, his manager Kevin, Kid Sister, Chromeo, and our people at BPM.

Now go buy the magazine!

Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh: I like the Skullcandy!

Monday, November 5th, 2007

Sure, it’s possible that his head feels naked without that trademark red energy dome hat.

We just hope that this pic of revolutionary artist and Devo frontman Mark Mothersbaugh wearing a pair of Skullcandy TI model headphones is authentic, because he is one cool kemosabe. Plus, Mark signed a physical printed version of this photo with his name and the message, “I LIKE THE SKULLCANDY!” That precious heirloom is framed and hanging on the wall at Skullcandy HQ.

Random trivia about Mark and his career: (1) He is an anti-conformity punk/new wave legend; (2) David Bowie and Iggy Pop “discovered” Devo after they saw a short film scored by the band in 1976; (3) He wrote the theme music for MTV’s Liquid Television, Nickelodian’s Rugrats, Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, and films like Happy Gilmore and Wes Anderson’s Rushmore and The Royal Tennenbaums; (4) He recently appeared as himself on the new Nick Jr. TV show Yo Gabba Gabba, demonstrating how to draw a potato bug on a skateboard. He’s a long-time admirer of skateboarding as an art form. Which bring us to (6) Mark’s interview in the November issue of SLAP magazine, where he discusses his recent involvement with the new NIKE skate video Nothing But The Truth.

Ain’t nothin devo-lutionary about this man!

Emporio Armani features Skullcandy collabo in ad campaign

Monday, November 5th, 2007

Limited edition EA7 vs Skullcandy headphones and audio backpacks are now available at select Emporio Armani boutiques. Both pieces are being featured in EA’s current marketing campaign, as can be seen on the billboard below, which was snapped last week at the airport in Milan, Italy. Note the Skullcandy logo icons on the backpack’s shoulder straps and the super clean, customized version of Skullcandy’s TI model headphones. Even the snow helmut worn by the male model features Skullcandy audio…but that piece is not being sold as part of the collaboration.

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

Here’s the SLC Fat Flake event wrap from Skullcandy’s snowboard team manager Jason Kimball:
“Massive representation! Bitner and Kimmy were 2 of the judges, MFM and Knucklez on the tables, Cooper, Zane, Benny, and Zak ripping…with Zak and Benny making the finals and Zak winning in front of a hefty and hyped crowd in downtown SLC…he was probably the youngest rider in the event and killed it all night.”
